Predictions? I see Ducati very strong contenders as I'm sure they have an ace under their sleeve. Maybe all the complaining about the ban of the wings was to get to keep their new advantage?

I think you will see Suzuki slide back to midpack. Vinales is a very good rider, but ironically his results in 2016 will possibly hurt Suzuki next year. They now have the same testing and engine development restrictions as the big three.

I don't see Aprilia or KTM, as well as the customer Honda/Yamahas/Ducatis being much of a factor except possibly Cal will go well in a few races.

Barring bad luck it is MM93's to lose. He rode very smart in 2016. Super fast, adaptable, and now willing to take third rather than crash makes a difficult guy to beat at the moment. By the time Lorenzo leaves Ducati at the end of 2018, Marquez could easily have five MotoGP championships, plus two more in the lower classes. And still only be 25 years old.

    End of the year points:
    1. Marquez
    2. Lorenzo
    3. Vinales
    4. Rossi
    5. Pedrosa
    6. Crutchlow
    7. Dovizioso
    8. Iannone

BTW as an early thread derail, anyone see that Triumph is set to become the Moto2 supplier in 2019?!? Who would have thought that.

A 750cc triple would be an interesting challenge for the chassis manufacturers instead of the old and wide CBR600 engine. Should have more power than the current Moto2 bikes if they can keep reliability.

I would have thought if they wanted to have a GP presence Kawasaki could have moved in with a parallel twin (say 650cc ;)) and it would have slotted in nicely between Moto3 and MotoGP.

    Great news.

But 750cc triple? I would have thought it would be a 675cc triple, no?

Due to Euro 4 emissions standards manufacturers have had to enlarge their engines sizes on the middleweights to keep performance and horsepower (Ducati 899 to 959 is a perfect example, as is the Aprilia 750cc twin going to 900cc in 2017).

Triumph has done this as well, the 675cc Street Triple will be 765cc starting in 2017. No word yet on the Daytona being 750 or 765cc, but probably so sooner than later.

Euro 4 has proven difficult to pass that some bikes are just going away in markets that require it. Honda's CBR600RR being a notable example (not imported to Europe now).

IMO, the good news of Euro 4 is that the middleweights now have more potential should someone want to modify them, and they are already a "big bore" smaller displacement bike. It is almost like the old days where an exhaust and jet kit (ECU reflash these days) really brings out more power and loses a few pounds. A Ducati 959 with these mods would likely have more power than any 999 and probably a stock 1098 from days past.

Prognostications are the Triumph triple will have about 150-160 hp. Quite a bit more than the Honda 600 in Moto2 form (~125-130 hp). Almost exactly as much power as the old 750cc World Superbikes had back when WSBK rivaled GP for worldwide popularity in the 90's.

Good news for MotoGP2 then, but I presume there won't be any Triumph in Supersport in future.
The 675 Speed Triple already benefited from an exemption in the 600cc class.

Going to follow MotoGP more closely this year due to the relative boredom of F1😳
Hoping for The Doctor to pull another championship out the bag - but to be honest don't know what the chances are ....
At least there will be lots of overtaking !!

Hidden wings appearing everywhere and something spooky about ducati's boxy rear end. Mass dampers?

Surprised to see several here picking Jorge so high. I personally do not think so. So far the testing times have not looked good for him. Give him props for trying out Ducati no matter the reasons.

Great race indeed - the number of overtakes is another magnitude compared to F1...
Shame for Zarco, he had a brilliant start - I guess the track was tricky.

Was wondering about that (I missed the race). Iannone was always fast...reckless, but fast.

Dovi on podium is a good result - how were the Ducks otherwise?

Dovi fought for the win right till the end while Lorenzo finished outside the top ten. Ducati is always handy on this circuit.

At least Rossi was constantly beating Hayden (1 world championship) when at Ducati but Lorenzo never even saw Dovi's tail.

Go Yamaha! I'm always happy to see Rossi on the podium, so a great day of racing. Also equally as happy to see Marquez go back to the pits.

Add me to the list that hates the broadcaster. Why no interviews? I love the interviews and we never see them anymore.
