There's a nice looking BB512i on BaT. Anyone know this car? 179 comments so far, some are pretty interesting. 1983 Ferrari 512 BBi | Bring a Trailer
in the add is standing: ....a clean California title with a lien. could someone please explain to me how this could work? clean title, but with a lien? so then it is not a clear title as I see it when I see the driver seat I doubt those 33.000 km. mine has now about 70.000 km but the seat looks equal like the 33.000 km
thank you for explaining. but clean title for me says no loan on it. but good that I can learn here - other countries - other handlings but for me it is not normal not to pay a car complete.
Decent nice car. Always "interesting" if they need a repaint at low mileage. Will need tires, and a eo in two years. No word on supesion rebuild. Still a nice clean looking shiney car. Predictions as they say.... My bet somewhere north of 250 and below 300k. Happy to be proven wrong which would mean boxers on the march again..
Yeah, I think you're probably right on pricing. I'm not a fan of using enhanced photos, but it looks lovely. Love the exhaust. Suspension looks never touched.
So far has not moved past 200K which I will assume is the startying big placed by the seller. Lets see, but I think this car may be a ltitlle up the price scale for the average BAT buyer.
this is Murph's old car, I met the buyer and have seen the car on several occasions in person. I don't understand the black shocks, where they changed, painted, and if so wouldn't you also clean up the suspension when it is apart? Also, hard to tell from the pics provided, but the radiator vent in the clamshell looks black with an exposed aluminum edge. I don't believe that is right either, but remember hearing that you could get an all black vent replacement from Ferrari. the leather tool pouch also was not present
No one really wants I bid it up early now. They want to wait until the last hour to have some fun with it.
Agree! I owned an 83 for a few years (not this one) and sold it. I miss looking at it, keeping it clean & maintained, but not it's mechanical temperament and demands!
For whatever reason didnt go past 205. My reading of the tea leaves say nice to great 512's are 250-300k.
Sean, I think you are light on great cars. There were a lot of sketchy Boxers out there when I was looking and I'm sure they're still out there. Unless you go look, judging a car in pictures is very difficult and so many have been neglected for years.
2013 June - Nov. Saw loads of cars with 3,400 - 40K+ miles if you believe odometers ;-). The PPIs showed on the 3 cars I even bothered with that they all needed things, even when recent majors had been done. Loads had repaints and others looked like crap with not too much effort put in on looking close. Not one car had the suspension bushing replaced of all I looked at and called on. Im just saying after owning one of these cars for 3 years, most are cars in need of things, no matter how nice they look. I believe a real great car will be better than 300K. I do agree the market is corrected a bunch, but I'm not convinced top cars are on the market for 300K.
I'm very surprised at the shear number of these cars for sale. At last count I was over 20 different 512 BB and 512 BBis for sale. And yes I totally agree that most of them are needy even in spite of recent service. I've made some low offers on a few but no one is moving on their price.
George, Sent you a PM. I own a car that was restored and the subject of an extensive thread here on F-chat, a '77 Boxer #21171. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/boxers-tr-m/397702-512-bb-restoration.html I would say the car has very few needs. I would consider an offer. Regards, Mike C
Clean = no CARFAX incident record Clear = No bank lien recorded. You get "clear title" when you pay the last loan note.
