Do these install on top of the original ones or do the originals have to be removed?

These are replacement parts for the originals and not overlays. We include full instructions and the sills come with 3M adhesive strips pre-installed. It is a fairly easy DIY job.

I dont know how light these Carbonio Sills are, but have you picked up the original steel one? has to be 2-4 kg each. I was very surprised how heavy they are.

I have a spare OEM set that I will weigh, I replaced with new factory OEM ones and the newer ones were heavier for some reason and looked to be a different thickness and finish (more textured and not smooth) perhaps they are more robust and powder coated now.

They are still no where near 2-4 kilos each though. Will report back what the removed OEM versions weigh when I can. The carbonio ones I have fitted on another F355 where very light in comparision but we would be talking sub 1.5 kilo difference collectively.

Understand that the factory used more than one subcontractor for parts, hence variances in finish, etc.

They're not light but I really do not think that that they weigh between 5 and 10 lbs. If someone is that concerned with weight the solution is to remove them entirely.

You are right and I am wrong. Mine is just under 2kg, 1961grams. From a 91 model. In fairness this one is sanded smooth so has less paint :D The other one was 47 grams lighter. The old glue still remains on the back of the black plastic too.

That's what I did as well.

Vast improvement over dull, scratched OEM silks.

All this talk of OEM sill weight.....so I went to the garage and weighed mine , from a 355: 7 lbs for the pair.
Of course the cabonio sills in CF weigh nothing.....but not sure that 7 lbs makes any difference in the real world.

They are however great quality and fair priced.

Thanks guys I really like the look & feel of wheel--but start button does not work & is not worth the bother.

Just an update that we have discontinued production of the carbon fiber door sills for the 348 and 355.

The increased age of the cars leads to an owner shift in preference to originality over modification thereby reducing demand. We were at the end of the service life of our tooling and decided to stop making the door sills rather than have new tools made.

Thank you all for your support with the door sills. It was a fun project.

Too damn bad. They are a huge upgrade over the OEM rust prone POS sills. Glad I got mine when I did.
    Thanks for making them!
