There is an interesting comparison on ebay right now, 3 black 2003 Modenas all at the same dealer- 2003 - black - F1 - 17k miles: $82,000 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena | eBay 2003 - black - F1 - 9k miles: $100,000 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena | eBay 2003 - black - Manual - 24k miles: $120,000 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena | eBay all things being equal (they are not): $2.25/mile 24,000 - 9,000 = 15,000 miles => $33,750 24,000 - 17,000 = 7,000 miles => $15,750 $(120,000 + 33,750) - $100,000 = $53,750 manual premium $(120,000 +15,750) - $82,000 = $53,750 manual premium I think based on black 2003s at one dealer, there is a significant premium for gated manual cars. this is the thread for discussion, not trying to start a war between F1 and gated, just looking at one dealers inventory...
By that reasoning, the one with 24K would only be worth 66,250 if it was 2 pedals. That sounds a little light to me. Dave

Tomorrows the big day for this 360. I wish her all the luck. NO Reserve!!! I hope it finds a good home.
Gooding lists the estimate at $140k - $160k, but no reserve so it should be interesting. It's good to see this car has been driven with almost 20k miles! On the opposite side, Gooding is also selling a gated 2007 599 tomorrow with less than 350 miles! Estimate is $700-$800k. To have a gated 599 for that many years and never drive it is just ridiculous!
Hammered at $100k ($110k with buyer's fees). An utterly dismal and disappointing result. On the positive side, someone got one HE11 of a deal. I just hope it was a real buyer and not a flipper.
Or perhaps the market isn't what people think. Though remember it is 100k for an off color car (nothing against it but certainly isn't red or yellow)
One auction one sale does not mean a lot. In 2035 young people who loved the 360 will be then be 50 and have some money to spend. Then we will see the collectability of the car. I have a 3 pedal 2004 spider which I cherish. I own it because every time I drive it puts a big smile on my face. The whole 3 pedal deal I have mixed thoughts. Yes there are less of them and no more 3 pedal Ferraris are being built. But it also seems the younger drivers do not care about the 3 pedal experience. If that is true where will the demand come from?
This! An 'antique' dealer once told me that you want stuff that is 40-50 years old or so. The people will just be coming into a period when they have money and try to buy back their childhood. After that, the prices fall off. Fewer buyers so less $$.
18K mile car for 100K is good money, the seller should be happy. The auction house was smoking crack while estimating the worth at 160K.
Did the care have 18k of 6k? If 18k then it's a pretty decent number. If it's 6k miles I'd say someone got a great deal. An 18k mile car shld not be 130k dollars.
Not really disappointing but not at what we are hoping. Its still a buyers market, grab it while you can. Ill keep on driving mine until i get tired on shifting gears.
Alternative thinking... Not rare, not red, not ultra low mile...was Gooding Amelia really the right setting for best results? May not have mattered, but questionable.
I think 110k is market for a spider that has 20k miles. I know of a local black / black 2004 gated spider with 9k miles that sold for 103k! Incidentally, the black / black 04 that I referenced was advertised here on Fchat a few months ago and got very little action from the Fchat community! And the car was a no issues car that had been freshly serviced! It was certainly a buy at that price and I would have jumped on it had I not just bought a gated coupe, which I prefer to the spider. So I agree, the Gooding's estimate was ridiculous!
If it was a coupe, it would have added atleast another 10k. Then if it was red, another few $. The first known one at auction. Lets see how it ends this year.
Not so sure about the numbers in post above. The only coupe. Six speed I know of recently selling was red tan, about 6k more miles and in nice condition (though admittedly KA concours car) and it sold at a dealership for 102. So a number around 120 seems pretty high to my eyes.
As Sherpa states above. "Enthusiast" crowd usually prefers the hard top to a drop top. More rigid chassis for handling. Same goes for 911 and 355, etc.
For everyone who thinks that the price of that spider was low needs to understand that Brucelyn Jenner's 3.8 GT3 RS at the exact same sale went for about $170k all in. Yes, there are anomalies within the same sale sometimes but no one is going to pay $150k for a 360 spider when you can buy a nicely spec'ed 3.8 GT3 RS for $170k. It's all relative and people need to understand that.
