Congrats on the sale. The auction seemed to go well. How did it go from your perspective? Hopefully you are happy with the results.

Thanks, I thought it went well. The folks at BAT are worthy of praise for sure, masters of their venue. The cars on there have been increasingly nicer and nicer of late too.

Congratulations on the sale Mang! Car was beautifully presented, got some good feedback, nobody got too testy - a minor miracle on that site - and you did a great job of monitoring. Was proud of your 'zen-ness' in the answers! :)

Nice result all around and I hope you're sleeping better... or will soon once checks clear and trucks leave. It was a nice journey with that car (both times!) but times change!

Thanks Adams, I know you know all about the process. Buyer was on business in South America and managed to win the bid, pretty cool this internet.

You saw the Gooding sale for $242,000 for a row 89 with 26k miles?

Considering the market value of a mso car and how it could change if driven or even registered. Would one replace fuel & brake lines, clean injectors etc prior to adding miles?

    Good luck with your sale!

Yes very nice mocha brown car, I would love to see it in the sunlight. Light yellow 9309800258 is back for sale on EBay. I take eBay bids/sales with a grain of salt, especially with a no-reserve bidding.

I'm only aware that "new" 15" Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires are available. The 15's were used on the Porsche 930 in 1975 and 1976.

Starting in 1977 Porsche went to 16" rims on the 930. I'd love to see Pirelli remanufacturing the original style Cinturato P7's we had on our eary 3.0 and 3.3 930's in proper 16" sizes. I had the opportunity to speak with the Pirelli Representative at the Porsche Parade last year and made the suggestion. Hopefully if Pirelli felt the demand was there for the 16's they will make them available.

This 930 sold a few years back at Gooding. Its now coming back up for auction at RM in Monterey. The car only only has around 11,000 miles but since it last sold it has had a engine rebuild, transmission rebuild and the interior color was changed according to the write up. It looks like the shade of blue in the interior was darkened since it last sold. I wonder why someone would buy a car like this for $300K, barely drive it and have the engine and transmission rebuilt on a very low mileage original car, change the seat color, then sell it?

Gooding & Co. is auctioning the Cashmere Beige 930 that was on Comedians In Cars...

Its been at Sloan for two years, with ask at $180K I believe. Friend of mine had a PPI done, and it will definitely need a engine and transmission rebuild, with this being a relatively low mileage car (36K) as well.

May bid on it, but I won't get close to the estimate. Interesting to see where these cars go next month.

I hope this isn't as bad as I'm thinking.. this 930 could do half the amount it did last time.

More miles and interior color change.

I can say this though. The current interior color is beautiful. I really like the new shade of dark navy opposed to the old smurf blue interior.

The car was barely driven at all since its last sale. The mileage when it sold at Gooding and now at RM shows that. I just seems strange that somebody would do all that to a original car. Rebuilding the engine, transmission, lowering it and changing the interior color on a low mileage survivor seems counter productive. Especially after paying $300K a few years ago.

I gotta believe we will see good $$$$$$ in the 930 market for the monterey auctions.

I can also say the 78/79 930s I've seen thus far I'm afraid will not perform well..

This comes down to the nice cars bring money and barring a few exceptions (the $300k 79 above included) there are NO NICE 78/79 930 for sale anywhere.

I've only seen a handful supreme condition 78/79 930s period. When ever we talk about concours condition 930s they seem to be 85/89 930s.

I'm saying I'm convinced there are very few truly condition 1,2, 78/79s out there.

Vonzippa, speaking as the Registrar I think your observations about its time at Sloan and what it needs are spot on. The car has a stigma and this highly specialized collector community is some of the sharpest I've ever met. So they will not be fooled by a "story".

Unless they find a "fish" at Gooding I'll be very surprised if it reaches the Reserve. We saw the same thing last year at Monterey with the cars that came out of the estate that had the Pasha interior and a couple of Guards Red cars. The "story" doesn't add value. It's condition, mileage and originality that will determine if it brings the money.

Interior on the blue 79 is stunningly beautiful now. I'd say it doesn't bother me that they changed the color. The smurf blue interior was hideous in a extremely displeasing way.
