Hello All Apologies if this has been covered but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for when I searched Planning on lowering the 599 on its original suspension by 10-15mm, and adding wheel spacers with the original, challenge style 20" wheels. Taz mentions Hill Engineering spacers are best. What size spacers are best ? 25mm all around ? Don't want to go too aggressive (and do any damage and ruin handling) but just want to fill those wheel arches better. Thank you Image Unavailable, Please Login
Vivid Racing here in the states told me that Novitec recommend 15mm front and 20mm rear on a 599 with the 20" Challenge wheels. For my 2009 599 (stock ride height & 20" Challenge wheels), I decided on 10mm front and 20mm rear but don't know if I'm completely satisfied with the stance. I've ordered 15mm all the way around to really dial in what I think looks best. I personally thought the 10mm in front was still tucked too much and the 20mm rear may even stick out past the fender ever so slightly. IMO, 25mm would be too wide. For the Type 1 spacers, make sure to order with new longer wheel bolts. Hope this helps.

Hi I have bought 22 mm front and 25 mm rear, set of 4, for 280 Euro (about the same in US $), also i had the car at the dealer for lowering 10-15 mm. Now for me perfect. 315/35/20, the F12 size. The tires are amazing. I can nearly flatfoot 1st gear and maintain traction (in warm weather). My (previous) Pirellis used to spin well into 2nd.
I don't have any from exactly the rear but you can get an idea from this shot. Visually it's hard to discern a 315 from a 305 tire. The 335-355 tires are the ones that look dramatically wider. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I went with a local raceshop for the spacers, but in hindsight I would buy a set from Novitec instead. I tried to save time buying locally but the first set didn't mate with my wheels and the second set took a few weeks to ship out. All the work was done at my local Ferrari dealer. Since the suspension was coming apart I also upgraded the rear sway bar to the 599Aperta rear bar. Slightly thicker than HGTE.
They set the front end as low as possible and adjusted the rear for a very slight rake per my request. Bring it down!
Hey Jkay, Apologies it took me so long to get pics up here. Had a lot of work done at my local mechanic and was out of town for a while. Below you will find pics of our 2009 599 at stock ride height with the 20" Challenge wheels. ~11k miles. New Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires installed (245/35/20 K2 for front, 315/35/20 K2 for rear). New tpms sensors. 15mm Hill Engineering spacers on all 4 corners with new longer Hill bolts. Ordered directly from Hill for best pricing. I preferred the 15mm all around instead of the 10mm front and 20mm rear Novitecs that I originally bought. Pictures don't quite show as well as in-person. In-person it looks a bit more aggressive than in pics. I personally thought the 20mm rear looked a bit too aggressive in-person. Though, in others' pics above, they and the 25mm look really nice. I also went ahead and replaced ball joints and ball joint boots at all four corners, as well as full tie-rod assemblies on rear and tie-rod ends at front. The original lower ball joint boots had cracked and the ball joints were corroding a bit. Rear tie-rod assemblies had completely seized together making alignment impossible. Decided to go ahead and redo everything with new, permanent and very high quality parts from Hill Engineering ordered directly from Hill. With all new mods including tires and an alignment, it feels like a completely different car in the best way possible. Hope all this helps. JKay, if you check with RMS you will find that spacers are not legal in NSW and all other States and Territories as well. You will also have potential problems with your insurer.

Australia never fails to amaze me with their road rules all in the name of "safety" I'm told recaro seats are illegal here too, govt prefers everyone to be in camrys
Regulations came out before the Camry. As for Recaro seats being illegal,check with what seats are fitted to a 599.
I doubt they help handling in any meaningful way...especially if keeping oem wheel and tire sizes. Spacers are more of an aesthetic modification. Changing to a superior tire setup, such as the MPSS, will change handling/feel.
