    I lost the shoveling battle days ago. I just scale over the top of more than 20 feet of snow and drop DOWN to my front door now. I remodeled this cabin over a four year period of drought. First winter with snow, and pleased to report, the fortress is holding up strong. This view from entry door down stairs;

    Added this 'shelter logic' shed in front of other shed going into this winter...amazing its holding up! There is a Willys CJ2A lurking in there.

    And today, under crazy loads, holding up like a champ! We are told only one more foot to go before first break in weeks. I took my time when I built this shed and added wooden 'dowels' that run inside all the poles and then drilled through when/before attaching hardware. Makes it super strong. Because look at that 60 degree pitched roof, dumps and piles up and up.

    This is a great thread! I love this project. It turned out really fantastic. I designed and built an apartment over my horse barn and it was by far my most favorite place. Your home reminds me of that time. :)

    Awesome build Mike! Finished just in time. Hang in there and let the snow help insulate as well. ;) I just hung some ceiling baffles in my "carriage house" garage but I need the support rods as well for the batts. Maybe next year. Which are you driving Subi or Jeeps?

    Thanks for the thoughtful comments amigos. Here is scene this morning. There is a BMW X5 under the big blob. Will kick the Willys into action, but not today. Just overwhelmed.

    Aloha Voda, it's warm, dry, and shiny :)

    More carnage;

    I go on and on about 'things holding up', but please understand, I am no engineer and just 'installed' things like salvage metal stairs, canvas shelter tent, etc. and just hoped all of it would hold up to challenges. Many folks are looking at major home repairs after big 15 day storms like this...I'm stoked, nothing failed...so far anyway.

    2nd photo you can see the way out. Over the top and then down, sat down in the snow and wiggled on my ass under the manzanita branch, and popped out to the road.

    For reference, I'm 6'1" and walk under that manzanita branch and clear it by a foot or so when no snow.

    Now get out there and start shoveling. LOL. I just got back from the west shore where we got 5 feet in 4 days on top of the previous weeks snow fall.

    Tahoe as it should be!

    Right? Like the old days. I did shovel, and yes it hurt my freakin bum shoulder, but it's my civic duty to clear this - its right in front of my place.

    I can imagine the west shore got slammed...you always get loads more snow than we do here in the 'banana belt'

    Awe Mike,

    Sorry about the shoulder but good move on the hydrant clearing. Gotta do that. The pic of the Jeep cracked me up. Cubes of snow on the roof and hood! We're lucking out with rain but lots of wind. Basketball hoop tumbled over the neighbors fence 2 doors up. Or recycling can fell over when the box I had flattened acted like a sail. I went back out and tucked it underneath. More rain for a couple more days.
