Ferrari crash in Austin

3 occupants? Was someone hiding in the trunk? Car pooling gone wrong?

 

Anyone recognize the model? Pretty mangled.

California T maybe? Based on the two openings in the hood in the photos from the OP link.

 

That looks so much like a 458 to me... Looking at the Cali T, the hood ports are farther back than they seem to be in these pics... But the pics are small and pretty sucky.

But we do know a local 458 with black wheels and a black painted top like that... hmmmm.

 

Confirmed that it isn't the person we know. He's safe and sound. We think it's actually a 488. I personally don't know the car... not one that's active in the chapter (that I'm aware of)

 

It's a 458 Speciale. You can see the wing on the rocker panel & the vents in the hood.

 

Good catch, Mike. Still no idea from me whose it is. Always surprises me how many cars there are around here that I don't know personally. Where are all of these owners hiding?

Lucky to be alive. What was that Humongous said? "I am a fuel injected, supercharged, suicide machine".

 

The hood was a giveaway.

 

Sad about the car. Driving like that under the influence is just asking for trouble, just plain dumb. Please don't drink and drive people.

And it seems cofirmed he had 2 passengers and was DUI. Wow. That much damage with at least 1 person not belted in but no one (seemingly) badly injured. Stupid and lucky.

 

For anyone curious, the driver has since been named.

 

I've done some dumb things in a car but 100 on that part of Red Bud....well, he wins.

 

I'm hearing through some people I know the driver is not the owner of the car. But I can't confirm at this time if the info is correct.

 

Hey Amir, let me (or us, on here) know if you get more info. I'm really curious about the "3 passengers" part of it. In a 458 Spec? That means at least one person wasn't belted in. If that's true... SO lucky there were no deaths, much less no injuries. I want to know just how stupid this whole stunt was.

No one I've talked to in the local chapter knows the guy who got arrested and we don't know the car. At first I thought it was Ben's, but although he has the same paint scheme and wheels, he has yellow calipers (and isn't a Spec).
Verified he was safe and sound before the press released the driver's name. Always crazy that there are *still* cars/drivers/owners in town that we don't know.

 

Confirmed he isn't the owner through a friend that knows the perp but no idea who owns it.

 

Maybe he drove it like he stole it.

 

Some people like their privacy. Not all owners wave their hands in the air and say, "anyone like me yet?!".. "Hey look at me!"

 

He certainly did.
