About 10-15 years ago I was interested in an entry level Ferrari. Like VERY entry preowned cheapest I could get. I knew NOTHING about the cars other than it's pretty and everyone loves them. So I got to the dealership on Wilshire and told them what I wanted. They took me somewhere (had to have been close by). We took a car elevator (I swear it was old and rickety) and inside that room I saw Ferraris as far as the eye can see. I specifically remember seeing a red Testarossa buried among them with a little mirror above the other cars and I thought to myself "why is that mirror so high? And why is there only one?"

Can someone confirm this room of Ferraris existed? Does anyone have pictures of this garage?

I KNOW I didn't imagine it and this board might have the treasure trove of knowledge to confirm.

This reminds me of the movie gone in 60 seconds, where nick cage is in the ferrari dealership and asks what else they had in the warehouse!

It's their storage next door in the hotel garage. Been in there many times and I met my first Maranello there. :D LOL, one time up there I saw Michael Schumacher's 2000 Monaco car and Bryant told me if you can sit down in it you can have it. I barely fit up to my knees it was so tight for me. ;)

Someone told me Giacomo owns the hotel too, which would explain why he parks the cars from his dealership there.

I thought they had storage/extra inventory by their service center in West LA? Off Canter IIRC.

Back when the OP was talking about they didn't have that and the service was the back half of the dealership so they only had room for about 4 cars there. Next door was necessary.

What happened to these folks? They used to have a very useable website, then it turned into this no information site. They had really nice cars, do they still have them? Why so non-friendly on the site?

Most dealers have a warehouse where they store more inventory and also customers cars for longer period of times. I have been to a few in the US and in Paris and it's as you described. Ferraris everywhere.

When you see so many together in one place, they don't seem so special anymore..

There are a lot of hidden dealership "stashes" throughout L.A.

Not as cool as a stash of Ferraris, but when I bought my Range Rover Sport, we left the dealership (which only had space for about 10 cars) and the salesman drove me a mile down the Sunset Strip to a non-descript office building. We entered the underground parking garage, drove down several levels until we reached a key card controlled gate. The gate opened and we drove down a few more levels until we hit the motherlode: hundreds of Range Rovers and Jags. They were everywhere... as far as the eye could see. You'd never know they were there.

When I bought my 355CH in 2002 from Giacomo, actually Bryant signed the bill of sale there was no title for it, it was in that storage area lots of cool stuff down there at that time too. I had a bunch pictures of the car before I bought it when it was parked in the storage area I will see if I still have them( have since sold the car) and post them

I haven't swung in there in several years but pretty sure it's still there. Carlo at Alfa of Tacoma used to have a basement stash that I heard contained some pretty wild cars too. But he sold everything, closed shop, and moved back to Italy last year I heard. I haven't swung by there to see what became of the place though. Maybe I will tomorrow.

Ron Tonkin down in Portland has a pretty amazing collection. Well he passed a couple years back but I understand the kids are keeping his collection together. In fact I think they just recently sold off all his "normal" dealerships but kept RTGT in the family.

I used to park my Maranello at Detail 301/Autovault, which is 4 levels down under Brooks Brothers on Rodeo. Lots of cool cars stored there. Also, The Sultan of Brunei keeps a bunch of his cars underground at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

I gather indoor storage is fairly common in Europe.

I bought my Alfas at a place that had a tiny showroom, a large shop, ...
... and the entire upper level was storage.
More Alfas than you'd ever see in one place in New Jersey ... other than the NYC receiving docks. ;)

But the family that ran it were first generation immigrants from Italy.
    (Mechanics trained in Milano.)
The machinist dad didn't speak any English.
