All 599s have the DC. This information is clearly available in a number of ways, from googling the laundry list of features, Wiki-type sites, to using this forum.

I mean no offense by this comment, but I would think that if one were seriously considering dropping $165k on a depreciating asset, features and evolution of this model would be known or self researched, but maybe I'm crazy.

    Good luck to all.

Zippy2015, I am assuming you mean a DCT (dual clutch transmission) vs a single clutch F1.
The majority of 599's have a single, twin disc clutch (a small number were gated manuals).
599's do not have DCT's. Or maybe google and wiki sites are wrong on my computer.

I did some research on line and could not find the answer, hence my question.

Thought f-chatters would be the most knowledgable and the best source.

Interestingly, your answer is different from the post below yours.

I emailed the selling dealership this am and they answered my question a few hours later. This 599 is a single clutch.

I presume this f1 transmission will drive like a 430, which I don't really like - I am accustomed to driving my Maserati GTS which has the duel clutch.

    The 599 has the F1 super-fast transmission and it's not a DCT

Dual-disc, not dual clutch. The F12 has the dual clutch. I own a 599.

    Does your 599 shift like a 430?

My Maserati GTS has a ZF 6-speed automatic with F1 paddle shifters - does the 599 shift as smooth?

The ZF is like a regular automatic - the F1 is an automated manual. The 599 will be like the 430, just much better :) You will want to drive the 599 with paddles vs the "auto" mode.

Dave has it right. Further, the F1 takes a bit of getting used to in order to obtain ultra smooth shifts. But it is quick, especially on downshifts, which are perfectly rev matched. On upshifts, you need to learn your own style. But all good -- very rapid and strong. My understanding is that on downshifts, an F1 is faster than a DCT. Can't explain why though.

Sorry for the delay all! Sounds like you all have been helpful to Greg - thank you. It can be slightly confusing to sort through all of the information available if you're just entering the Ferrari world. The 599 happens to be a favorite among us here.

Ferrari California T |Delve into the Technological Prowess

Says F1, Dual Clutch, 7 gears

I think F1 simply states its electronic shifting.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrohydraulic_manual_transmission

599, California (and many others) use F1 transmission.

You can shift with paddles and the electronics control the clutch and shift gear. 599 claims super fast shifting.

I have never driven a 599, but my California T is a blast to drive. I warm up the car in automatic, then switch off automatic. Now I must shift up or I will red line the car. It will not up shift in manual mode. If the RPM drop below 1K it will down shift so it does not stall the engine

So the car does have electronic shifting. It does not have dual clutch. There are some great videos on youtube on DCT.

Is a Ferrari F1 transmission fun to drive? In my opinion Yep!
