I bough a Dell PC (had some $$ dell credit) and i want to swap the video card and add an SSD HD. Nothing crazy, but enough to play some games.

The PC is an I5 with 12Gb of memory. Id like to add an SSD drive as a boot drive so no need for big one.

As for the video card, i have no idea but i dont want to spend $300+.

I really like Tom's Hardware's Guides for stuff like this.

Best GPUs of 2016 - Top-Rated Graphics Cards for Gaming

It will give you an idea of what cards are good at a particular price.

If you want to stay sub $300 I'd go for something like the Geforce 1060.

As for the SSD, I'd probably just hop on Newegg or Amazon and find one that has the highest rating with the size and price you want to spend. I'm partial to Crucial but that's just me.

I always buy Samsung SSDs, sub $150 for 500 gig on sale. Vid card I'd buy the Asus version of the 1070. I haven't really been watching Toms lately but it's a very good source.

I have a Samsung 480GB SSD and very happy with it. They're around $150 and worth it. Don't get a small one and install games on the HDD, they work better on SSD and load much faster. I have a HDD in my computer still but use it as a back up, config'd it as ''always on'' as they're just so damn slow when they need to ''wake up''.

Next PC build I will use SSD as a back up drive as well.

1070GTX is best bang for buck IMO. It's an incredible card with great performance. Friend of mine has one and uses it in 3440 x 1440, his old card was a 770GTX and performance tripled, even with changed graphics settings from high to epic!
EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition, 08G-P4-5173-KR, 8GB GDDR5, LED, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC)-Newegg.com

1060 is a great card as well but 1070GTX will ensure you'll be fine for a few years.

    Don't want to invest in 4k? 1070 GTX. Want 4k? 1080 GTX.

Best vid card under $300 is the Nvidia gtx 1060 6gb (~$240). For $140, the gtx 1050ti is probably the best overall bang for the buck.
