Marc had a (very quick) look at the car last week and it looks like the steering play is in the box and the idler arm, both of which are adjustable, so hopefully one more thing crossed off the list. I've also decided to run 8x16" QV rear wheels all round (Superformance replicas), so on the hunt for some.

Great to hear it's a simple fix for steering issue Doc. That will definitely get the old girl steering right. :)

OK, so far I've gone through the electrics and re-wired the fans to all work properly, and then Gezim went through it again and ripped out the prev owner's re-wire, then my re-wire of the re-wire, and got the original circuitry working properly. He then got the A/C working with a new York compressor and a re-gas. I guess he must have been bored, because then the lights were changed over to LEDs.

The car's now over at Marcs, getting a general spanner check, and sorting out the brakes, steering, and over-heating issues. I've ordered 8x16 QV rears (x4) from Superformance, rather than going the TRX route, which should arrive next week - I've only seen limited references to this conversion, but I may need to get 11mm spacers made. I'll see how they fit before sorting that one out.

I gave the interior a drink of leather dressing before dropping it off, and it looked great last time I saw it, so I would expect it to continue to get better with a few more applications.

Hopefully get the car back in time for the FCA Christmas do in a couple of weeks!

A few small specs of rust to sort, and possibly get the exhaust to sound a bit more.. fruity, and it'll be finished (until the next problem).

Curious to see how it looks with the rims because the repop QV wheels although the same width as the OEM rims they do not have the same outside face depth. In an effort to keep costs down they made all 4 rims the same on the outside face rather than have recessed spokes giving that deep dish look. They made the wheel bolt holes much deeper to compensate for the spokes being in what I call the wrong place. If you used 4 OEM rears (I know they're expensive and hard to find) then you might get a pretty cool look.

Yeah, well, it's a bit of an experiment, and until Compomotive remanufacture the TS-17s, I'll try these. Even with spacers, it'll be cheaper than TRXs.

So the radiator was half blocked, and has now been cleaned out - hopefully back tomorrow. The thermostat was gutted, with the warm up circuit blanked off, so a new one of those ordered. The master cylinder is off getting rebuilt, as it was cactus. Once that's back in, can move on to the calipers and hand brake. Marc noticed the front shock eyes were rooted, so a new set of those going in, but it appears that the steering box was easily adjusted tighter, so hopefully some progress there. Waiting for the wheels to clear customs.

The exhaust will need to be changed - everyone, including me, who's heard it agrees that the sound is nausea inducing. The DPO put straight pipes from the collectors to the rear mufflers, and blanked off the little balance pipes. Could be some trial and error sorting that one out.

    Fun, huh?

So that's one vote yes! Actually, the exhaust is at the bottom of a long list of other things to do first.

Radiator back in, and fans cutting in and out, so hopefully that's sorted. The thermostat cost more than twice what I paid for my first car! Marc traced the oil cooler lines to... nothing. It was completely bypassed. When he hooked it up, it pissed oil out everywhere, so another little joke from the DPO. Apparently they're the same as the GTB ones, so a little easier to track one down, but it couldn't have helped the overheating issues.

A couple of bottom ball joints replaced, master cylinder back in, and one brake circuit not working. Possibly the little shuttle valve between the circuits is stuck. To be checked out tomorrow.

Need to decide on tyres for the 8x16" rims. I think 245/55 gives the closest diameter to the 240 TRXs, but a little investigation yet to do there, unless anyone has some thoughts.

Can be a bit of a minefield for visiting yanks! If you ever visit and think you've been insulted, just pause and chew it over for a bit before reacting. Chances are, it was a joke.
