Interesting. Looks like a Banks intake plenum with built in (tiny) intercooler. How are the accessories driven? What transmission I wonder? Aaron
Actually you are right! Engine is facing the wrong direction. EDIT- I see Tim already posted the same thing basically. Guess I didn't have enough coffee this morning
Yes! the motor is out for service and we rolled the chevy engine under the car just for the photo. It would never have worked, and it would have ruined a great car. The twin turbo is for a Chevy II
Nice, I to love good humor.......... Someone is thinking " looks like it might actually fit " Stay tuned.
If you did do this you would have to pipe in ferrari engine sounds to the cabin or you would not get the true experience.
I would suggest the motor out of a 2016 mustang gt350 spins to 8800rpm with the flat crank will for sure give you a Ferrari feel
I'm sure you guys have seen this before but this one is really done right. Anyone know more about this car? https://youtu.be/6KajL7klumA
That's the Steve Maxwell/Stacy Slead car. It's one of the 348 factory challenge cars (#10 of 32 coupes). The car actually came from your neck of the woods (Grand Rapids, Michigan) when Stacy bought it (It has a racing history and was raced by several individuals including most recently Mike Farmer with Ferrari of Houston back in 1997 or so....still trying to piece together the racing history of the vehicle). Steve Maxwell designed, engineered, and built the car, crafting over 200 pieces using CNC equipment. He put an incredible amount of time and money into the car. My brother-in-law and I were lucky enough to purchase it from Stacy this past Summer. We're avid car enthusiasts and have bought a few rare modern classics over the past few years and we just couldn't pass up such an iconic vehicle. Both Stacy and Steve are great guys and a pleasure to deal with. We had Steve perform a full engine-out service when we bought it mostly as a precaution and to address a few minor issues. It's a blast to drive and wicked quick. Steve told me that they've run as much as 22lbs boost on the engine (well over 800 hp) with no issues although the heat-treated 355 challenge gearbox/drivetrain can realistically only reliably handle around 500 ft/lbs of torque. That's around 600 hp. He says they've run a best 10.21 @153 quarter-mile. I can tell you that it launches like a Saturn V rocket 1st stage and you better have it pointed where you want to go. It's an incredible piece of engineering and I feel lucky to own such an iconic vehicle.
The car truly is a piece of art. The craftsmanship is insane...it could've left the factory like that as a special edition and no one would be the wiser.

Awesome, awesome car! Like a homebuilt F-40. Probably faster, too. I saw the video of it from a few years ago, the one with the large guy driving, and read a couple articles, too. Sounds like getting the 355 transmission in there was the hardest part of the project. I'd think with all that power and torque, you wouldn't need 6 gears. I'd love to hear more about it.
