    Details:

This is a 15,300 mile 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata M Edition with a 5-speed manual transmission finished in the M Edition-exclusive Montego Blue Mica over Tan. It has had one Southern California lady-owner from new.

The 1994 M Edition was the first of the M Edition series, with 3,000 produced. It is one of the most desirable Miatas period, with standard features like the Torsen limited-slip differential, leather interior, Nardi shifter/handbrake, and, on this particular car, the optional hardtop and ABS-system. This particular car stickered for over $24,000 in 1994, equivalent to about $40,000 today. 1994 Miatas in general are also praised for having the improved 1.8 liter engine that retains OBD I as well as increased body rigidity, while being the last year of the car that features a proper oil pressure gauge. Read full details about the M Edition Miatas in particular here: Mazda MX-5 Miata M Edition Field Guide

15,300 miles. One-owner. VIN: JM1NA353XR0515950. Location: Orange, CA.

Zero accidents. All-original paint. All VIN tags are in place. 100% clean Carfax. 100% clean, free & clear title.

    This Miata is 100% unmodified.

    Flaws:

None, really. The paint is very good for a 22 year-old car, with very few scratches and no scuffs. I had it professionally detailed and lightly buffed in preparation for sale.

Interior is like-new, and the leather smells absolutely incredible!

The underbody frame rails have a couple dents from jacking, but otherwise the underbody is flawless, even compared to most cars with these miles.

    Maintenance Information:

The car had its oil changes done on a yearly basis (due to so few miles), and not much else was needed. I elected to change the spark plugs and plug wires at Miata specialist MD Automotive. Mark Dibella, the owner there, looked over the car and gave it a fully clean bill of health otherwise.

The car has new tires and passed its CA smog test recently (before the plugs & wires!) with flying colors.

    Car comes with the following:

    - Original window sticker.
    - Original owner's manuals.
    - All original keys with M Edition key ring.
    - 1994 Miata M Edition magazine print ad.
    - Hine Mazda (original selling dealer) plate surrounds.
    - Optional OEM Miata dual cupholder.
    - 1994 Miata brochure.
    - 1994 Miata accessories brochure.
    - 1994 Mazda lineup brochure.
    - Touch-up paint.
    - Car and Driver 1994 Import Cars issue (features '94 Miata).
    - Car and Driver 1995 New Cars issue (features '94 Miata M Edition).
    - Road & Track January 1994 issue (features '94 Miata vs. Del Sol).
    - Original leather tonneau cover.

    Price: $15,995 firm.

Sterling, I just want to say that I'm very happy to have you as part of the Fchat community. Your dad is obviously very knowledgeable and is great to work with but for you be here and bring the cars of this generation to the forefront is a real asset and should not be overlooked. Keep them coming. There are many of us here who appreciate them.

Car is still available, had a sale pending but it fell through.

    I don't have a problem with either path. :)

    Very nice.

The last five years or so, I haven't owned a street sports car as I've preferred either race cars or more practical-yet-sporty street cars (SUVs, sport wagons). IMO, today's sport cars are overkill for the streets and compromised for the track.

I got a chance to drive several early, stock Miatas (low mile 91 base, high mile 94 R) last weekend. I have forgotten how much fun these cars are! I think the early Miata design at any price is what street sports cars should be - lightweight, simple, well-balanced, engaging, confidence-inspiring. My recent drives have gotten me searching for an R or a race-prepared early car.

    Good luck with the sale!

    Thanks!

Here's a better representation of the paint color as it shows in the sun (excuse the iPhone photo!):

Wow, awesome car. I've been building, racing, and abusing these little gems for years. For those who haven't driven one, it's a revelation: The low power means lots of shifting and these have one of the sweetest shifting gearboxes ever made -- really. They're an absolute ball and reliable as the sunrise to boot (unlike other Mazdas). With interest growing, an ultra-low mile Mk1 ("NA") M edition with a hardtop ($$$) is a very good bet.

Nobody sells one without feeling a bit wistful. I've tried. It doesn't work and I always buy another (currently a 2001 track car - stiffer/more power but same underneath). If the price comes down further, PM me!

Very nice. My DD 2000 Miata LS is due for a new clutch after finally resolving my cold start, charging, alternator, belt issues! Fast Forward supercharged since 2013 so a new clutch is not a surprise. I will order the Flyin' Miata "Happy Meal" tonight. Heavier flywheel for supercharged car.

    GLWS!

Thanks for the comments! I've gotten quite a few offers, would have sold already but this one is too nice to let go cheaply! I guess I like having it around. :)
