When the previous owner pulled the car cover off, I knew I had just bought my first Ferrari. So much for negotiating....dang Bill
Dark colours and Borrani wheels seem to "shrink' the car nicely. (#12623 by the way) Image Unavailable, Please Login
12623: Original exterior color: Avorio 2.662.016. Original interior color: Beige VM 3218. Marcel Massini
Rosso Corse 365GT: Rosso Chiaro next to the 365 for comparison. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
12659: Original exterior color: Rosso Cina Duco 9467542 with Nero VM 8500 interior. (That is China red). Marcel Massini
Marcel: You are correct as always. The Nero interior remains, but the Rosso obviously changed. The original color was just too bright for the car. Cheers Mark
I've always liked the lines of the 365 GT 2+2 in with a light interior. The "acreage" of metal is only broken up the "acreage" of glass, so when the interior is presented in a lighter color leather, I think it adds to the visual appeal of such a large car by drawing the eye inside the car. Andrew Maness just did an article for Petrolicious on my car...it's interesting how Azzurro Hyperion can take on different shades/ saturation with the light. I bought 11727 from Bill " Dogdish" because she was the best looking Queen I had ever seen she was painted by Frank Zucci in the San Francisco area while owned by John O'Boyle in the Early 90s . The color was hand made/mixed to match the original Ferrari color. This color looked great for years. MARCEL Masinni said the car was originally Grigio Mahmoud but Neither I or John ever found any trace of it when taking the car down to bare metal. She came with 5 spoke Daytona style wheels and 10 hole Campaolos which I felt looked better on her. After the Fire I purchased 11835 which was Bright " Resale" Red over Black Leather with Borrani Wire wheels. While most non Queen owners liked the red car better, most owners Including myself loved the Blue Sero Metallica much more. The wire wheels may have played inpart in the decision. The color changed greatly in the light. In the course of fighting the fire her entire interior was filled with water in order to extinguish The flames. I intended to buy her back after she was restored but the current owner has not finished the restoration and says he will keep her forever. I am interested in buying another 365GT 2+2 if you have one for sale. Photos to follow Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Starting on page 2 is the journey of my restoration of 13877. I returned it to it's original colour, Blu Tourbillion, but I changed the interior colour from original tan to Blue Scuro. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/australia/469679-queen-marys-2.html I think there are many colours the 365 Gt 2+2 look wonderful in but not rosso red, yellow or white. Cheers to all forum member Best Regards Phil PS looking for disks front and rear, any tips for reasonable pricing given the poor Aussie $?
