Mario Righini has a great car collection that was partly assembled from cars found in the family's scrap yard. He is also in possession of some great Ferraris and what is widely accepted as the real "first Ferrari", the Auto Avio Costruzioni 815. This was the car Enzo built after leaving Alfa and before he could start a company using his name. There are also some other pretty amazing cars in the collection which, by the way, is housed in various garages/barns on the old family estate.

As far as I know he is still living. I toured his collection as part of a tour group several years ago and he was actually there to host us. Even shared some of the "family Lambrusco" with us. Very gracious host and very amazing collection!!

He's very adamant about that car, and that it must NEVER leave Italy.

Yeah, he told us he's been approached many times by Ferrari and others to purchase the car. His basic reply was NEVER.

I wonder what kind of figures were offered to him.

No idea but I got the very distinct impression it wouldn't matter how much he was offered. Pretty amazing collection besides this car too. Really drives home the old saying one man's trash is another's treasure!!

For those who understand Italian. And if you don't, just sit back and enjoy the scenery.
