I believe this is the first time I've seen this on a street car. This car is located in HK. I've seen pictures of it on a 355 race car a few times. Michelotto product? Anyone have an idea of a source? I am looking for something like this to compliment my challenge side grilles.

Im sure that can easily be fabricated for very little effort.
Just some mesh bent and cut to fit the grill, Add screws in factory location and call it.

The hard part would be the outline the mesh is most likely welded to to keep it's shape and give a more finished look, which this 355 has. I agree, can be done if someone is willing to do it. Just less headache if there's already a source.

Should be cool to see what you come up with. I would think that using the same material as the rear challenge grill (in the front) would be difficult to keep clean. A bigger pattern like in the 599 gto would be a better selection.

    Properly known as "Hardware Cloth."

Yes, that will effectively keep tire marbles from being ingested into the brake cooling ducts.

Try customcargrills.com. They have a selection of stainless steel and aluminum mesh. I actually ordered a sheet of the square mesh in stainless steel.

The customcargrill one is sturdy. Keeps its shape. Can't even bend it let alone roll it :).

Secure the hardware cloth to the back of the stock grill and you'll have a functional, esthetic, and cheap barrier to keep tire boogers out of the brake cooling ducts.

It's a good idea for the track. It's not really necessary for the road.

I use a heavier gauge hardware cloth for the door and wheel well vents and still a big tire marble at Sebring earlier this year managed to rip through the passenger side wheel well screen taking off two fan blades and damaging the radiator core. There was lots of rubber on the track those two days because of the Porsche Club Races practice sessions being held at the same time.

If you want to swap out your stock front grill, then customcargrill.com is the way to go.

That's actually a good idea. Never thought of that.

The challenge door mesh didn't work out for you?

The original Challenge door mesh was swapped out years ago, probably when my car was raced, for heavier gauge screens. These screens get hit and damaged frequently by track debris and have to be replaced periodically. They're fabricated at the shop.

What's truly amazing is that the flimsiest fiberglass parts on my F355 Challenge, the clutch heat shield and the four brake cooling intakes, have held up well since first installed in 1995. :)
