These are great boats I owned 3 of the fastech boats bought new over the years . including two of the 419s which they no longer make which is a 4 foot longer version of the 382 with triple engines.. I really miss my last one the most (a 419). .. during that time I never had a single formula problem... I had visited the factory during each of the boats builds.. If you get one you will love it...
now thats a guy that knows about performance boats.. pretty cool connection. kind of the Enzo Ferrari of the performance boat world..
What is the cost of servicing and maintaining a boat like a 382 over 10 years? $20K?....50K?....more? Say you're putting 75 hours a year on it.
I assume you will keep it on a lift or in dry storage that is not left in the water. The best recommendation I could make if you buy one new is get the extended warranty on the engine and drive train as they are easy to break.. so if you do that then you should be able to maintain it for 5ooo or so per year.. maybe less. thing is it is easy to lose a lower unit (i.e. break it) it is also important to be careful about the engine inhaling water through the exhaust the big block Chevrolets had a problem with this now they have come a long way on this ..I would alway rev the engine prior to shutting down to eliminate the water.. Feel free to email your info to me and I would be glad to talk to you about it.. We had so much fun with these with poker runs and 90 mph runs .. dam I miss mine..... I can remember going up the Chesapeake bay from Va beach to Baltimore (about 180 miles ) and on a good day we could cruise at 55 to 60 lots of fun....fun 1987 till 2004 I had my 3 formulas each one a blast. re 10 years those engines will not last 750 hours no way maybe 400 I replaced several engines over the years only had to pay for one the others were covered by the extended warranty ..they are run hard ....of course it depends on the engine you get ..
