Surprised no one has posted something about a 2002 575M manual with Fiorano package not selling at Artcurial. Estimate was E175,000 to E225,000.

The car for the Finest at Hershey sold post sale for 265k + comm. Also, it had over 25k miles. The sports car market this month listed it as "well bought"

While the market has softened, this car doesn't support your doomsday theories Brad. Just one example.

Thread began and they said the 8000 mile 575 Manual at Artcurial only pulled a high bid of 140,000 euros. That's about half of what people have been "asking" and "selling" those cars for. Not even close

On that particular day, nobody wanted her except for a bargain price. Does not make a market.

    It's all in the marketing!

When an auction house publishes their estimates, do they suggest the estimated hammer price or the buyer's cost including commission??

It's possible the Mr. €140k was thinking that he was already in for €167k (circa $186k) (e.g. €140k +16% commission plus local VAT at 20%(?) on that commission)..

Gooding appear to have done an impeccable job of presenting the 5,800 mile '98 550 and note that it is listed as 'without reserve'. The high/narrow estimate range is presumably there to save time and hopefully eliminate those cheeky sub-$100k opening bids.

P.S. The original Artcurial lot listing has been pulled and the results are now displayed in a different format... see link below.

Unsold lots (such as the 575M #136) are no longer listed and the overall result with total sales of just under €10 million is how they choose to publish their results for posterity.

Yep! And this has been going on for the past 6 months to a year, although it seems to be becoming more and more common with the market coming back to earth from outer space. No high dollar bid? No problem! Scrub the results out so nobody can see it and keep the herd calm. It may work in the short-term, but it's merely a log trying to clog up a dam. Kind of like one of those Stock circuit breakers in china.

Brad, The Artcurial car was a 31,000 mile example..

    Lot 136: 2003 (certainly a 2002) LHD Ferrari 575M Maranello manual (in Rosso/Nero, FHP, 50,175 kms) Châssis n° ZFFBT55B000128299 - EU papers (Sweden).

The pre-Brexit estimate was €175-225k but the sale ran on 9th July (2 weeks post-Brexit) which may have had some impact on the interest from UK buyers holding Sterling!

Apparently you continue to have "selective reading" abilities which only serve to continue to support your chicken little theories.

Would you care to share your source for The Finest post sale at $265k+comm on the 550 (Blue Nart, '00, 9,300miles)?

I recall that it was bid up to $175k and the listing is still live showing the $210-$225k estimate and 'make offer'...

How is it a theory? Pre-summer 2015, all of these auction houses listed ALL results and ALL bid prices. And little by little they are starting to remove the unsold cars and the bid results. So since I'm a "chicken little", be so kind as to tell us why they are doing it

Again, you're missing the point. Your purpose with this thread, like so many others you've created, is to insinuate that the market is collapsing. Yes, the subject of this sale received weak bidding, but that doesn't mean too much. Wrong audience perhaps.

My point was that another 575 stick just sold publically for double the high bid of the subject car and that number was still pretty strong; a point you ignored.

Thanks, I got it. Here is the listing for that car: the 27,705 mile 2003 575M stick ZFFBV55A330133205

    The Finest Automobile Auctions

It carried an estimate of $295,000 - $350,000 but I recall that it passed at $220k so can you reveal your the source for the post-sale sale?

That car and the blue 550 are owned by one of my best friends. The results were also published in the Sports Car Market this month and via email to registered bidders when the car sold.

Fair enough, so why do you think they are scrubbing results? And in some instances, auction lots?

Who did I throw a rock at? Pretty sure I'm the one who was called "chicken little"

2000 550 with 3,800 miles. I can only assume hammer was $145k and the price listed includes the commission.
