Personally, I enjoy these types of threads, but participation can be inconsistent due to the disparity in difficulty from one puzzle to the next. Post something too obscure, and only a handful of people are able to identify it. After a few of these, everyone else stops visiting the thread. Post something more easily identifiable, and the hardcore car nuts won't answer in an attempt to give everyone else a chance. Then the thread goes inactive until someone new wanders in.

So let's try something new - we'll run two separate puzzles at the same time. And hey, if it doesn't work, I can always just merge this thread into the other and pretend this little experiment never happened. :)

So Isobel's up. She can post a car in each thread if she likes and we'll go from there!

Looks kind of like a Cord with those horizontal chrome strips, but I don't think it is one of those.

Closest I could find to the look of the car was a 1935 Cord.

If it is French, then I have no idea what it is.

I like this thread, even though I'm no good at it, because I learn so much about unusual cars.

    French, fwd, mainstream car.

You can get this Ron. The hunt is best part.

French coachbuilder that's related to another flashy coachbuilder, yet not a phony and flashy coachbuilder. Carroserie later than chassis, but around the war.

This is a fave car of mine, so I'll continue to drag you guys along. Cool car.

Okay, I think I'm getting closer.

I found this 1937 Delahaye which definitely has a "family resemblance" to the GTC car.

That's a beautiful car. And you're in the right country with both the marque and the coachbuilder, so that's a start!

OK, we ruled out Franay, Figoni et Falaschi, and RWD.
Coachbuilder was student of one of the remaining "wild ones".
    FWD common French car
The body was done post ww2 (47?) on a pre-war iconic but pedestrian chassis.

Why don't you just go ahead and take it? With two threads now, there's plenty of opportunity for everyone.

We have the other thread for that. :)

Bean 11.9. I was going to post one of these myself not long ago, but ended up going with something else.

    Give this one a try:

Of course! Why do you think I created the second thread in the first place? :D
Your WAG is a bit too WA, I'm afraid. :)

All kinds of odd connections with this one--even a Jaray connection (imagine that)! But I won't spoil the fun with a bunch of hints just yet.

    Do we need hints?

Two designers, one with ties to Jaray, the other better known for achievment in an alternative form of propulsion. No exotic or alternative methods of propulsion were used in this case, however.

Not that I'm aware of, but there is a connection to flight and man's quest to escape terra firma.
