Maybe Ferrari need to take some wing off that car.
Looks like it will be a disastrous week end for Ferrari, other than if someone spins at the castle chicane the race will be over.
I think there's a high likelihood of thrills and spills at this circuit, Merc look strong but that may mean very little.
Im guessing there will be a safety car but it matters little when Merc have the field covered by a second
^^^^ This. I foresee an entertaining race, Mercedes dominating or not. Plus it's still very much unknow territory for all teams involved. Scrimmages, crashes, overheating tyres, brakes......
+1 Sure, Merc will most likely run off into the distance, but we're used to that. Hopefully we'll see some good racing behind them. A new circuit is always interesting to me at least. I'm looking forward to it. Cheers, Ian
Dreaming of the day when we will have a real battle at the front and some new drivers/different teams challenge for the WDC/WCC. No light at the end of the tunnel from this most dominant stretch in F1 history. Guessing 5 years minimum before there is a legitimate two team battle for the title.
Maybe even next season, if Renault show the progress they've delivered this past year. Red Bull definately has an advantage under the new rules; chassis and aero legend A.Newey.
Just did the math: From 1988-1991 Mclaren won 39/64 races or 60% From 2001-2004 Ferrari won 47/68 races or 69% From 2010-2013 Red Bull won 41/77 races or 53% From 2014-Present Mercedes has won 38/45 races or 84% Unbelievable. They have taken pole at 93% of the races. LOL
I don't see Mercedes domination as much as I see Lewis domination!! However, there's still a long way to go, so we can live in hope that it tightens up at the front. Plenty of mechanical failures today.
What an incredible achievement. Didn't Tif12 absolutely assure us, because he knew inside info, that the Mercedes team would never amount to anything??? Funny as.
Ricciardo sums it up nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbO1gYaaAwU Again, I think it will be entertaining.
Mercedes circuit. Should be a fun race. Heat and mistakes to keep us entertained. Happy to see this place and glad they are running here.
What is even more depressing is of the 7 races that Mercedes has not won they have lost (screwed up) at least 5 of the 7 losses. If we all felt this level of dominance was more than before, this certainly shows that it really is. Hoping next year has a major shift, it would be good to see more than 1 team at the front and to see the 2 Mercedes drivers really having to compete with more than just eachother. They did not look like world beaters in 2013.
You are 100% right. In fact, I can only remember one race (Singapore last year) in 45 races where they didn't have the fastest car. And Hamilton still may have won that had his car not broken. The W05-07 are far and away the most dominant cars the sport has ever seen. We can hope, but I don't see much changing.
If the cars get cleanly through this section on the first lap I will be stunned. My prediction is a pile of carbon fiber. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just tell Elton he gets to be king of the castle if he wins the race on lap one, then you will get the carnage as he bashes his opponents all over the place, then suffers nothing more than a few irate radio calls and no penalties for it. I'm beginning to think that Someone in race control may write a book to be published posthumously where he admits to being eltons real daddy! Hahahaha
