Hi, I'e seen some QV cars with this exhaust cover. Is this a standard part or an add-on for US spec? My 85 cab has no fitting for this cover

That is a US spec. Its known as the "exhaust diaper," there to catch hot exhaust pipes that melt and fall off the car in the event of a catalytic converter getting clogged and leading to disaster. Although, I do think "exhaust cover thingy" is at least as good a name as "exhaust diaper."

These diapers usually turn into brown caused by the exhaust dust, especially after a couple of decades ;)
I think Ferrari called it "pannolino"
