Gorgeous French Racing Bleu car, what is the oval metallic item that sticks up out of the bodywork just forward and to one side of the driver? It looks like four pieces of metal.....
thanks for your answer ... there is another in England (older photo) ... or is it the same? I am not sure! Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Bugatti was put together for static display and just recently i did the ground up restoration and documented every number and part 1000's of photos to fully expose exactly what the Bugatti is made out of currently. And now is a running machine!
Yes that was us! Thanks. and as far as the other picture you posted i am familiar with it and it resides in England and once was owned by my father then the new owner built a body resembling the original Benoist car but was later scraped and then a new correct body was built on the number 15 chassis
Would be nice if you could post some more photos during the restoration, thanks. automobileweb - bugatti type 59/50b 4.9 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Hi Uwe, this car witch is a later type 59 with hydraulic brakes, rear track rods, slipper pads on rear springs, aluminum and Magnesium type 59/50B engine is owned by a prominent collector/ racer in whales inherited from his father no relation to the type 59/50s that we have here, the photos you have are from my fathers garage prior to selling it many years ago, his father had a body made in the previous photos you posted witch those body panels have been removed and correctly reconstructed, that engine came from the air plane my father purchased witch was originally from a race car.
The car is awaiting transport in Santa Barbara to Laguna-Seca raceway. Only a few weeks away and we are very excited.
