Ferrari Supercars (288 GTO/F40/F50/Enzo) and Lamborghini classics (Miura/Countach) tend to be my standard fare Cars | Joe Sackey Classics, but, here is another Supercar which my son (who is part of Joe Sackey Classics LLC) has come to own, that has really impressed us.

The NSX is one of the last manual gearbox-era Supercars ever made, and with the advent of the new 2017 NSX, it now represents an end-of-an era heritage Supercar.

“The moment I drove the NSX, all the benchmark cars – Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini – I had been using as references in the development of my car vanished from my mind. Of course the car we would create, the McLaren F1, needed to be faster than the NSX, but the NSX's ride quality and handling would become our new design target.” - Gordon Murray, McLaren F1 designer & chief engineer

Honed at it’s development stage by none other than then Honda-McLaren F1 World Champion racing driver Ayrton Senna, the original NSX is to this day a benchmark supercar design.

The NSX driving experience is what defines why this car is so special, its 90-degree V6 emits an F1-type howl at high-cam turnover point approaching its 8,000 RPM redline, and a blindfolded passenger would be forgiven for thinking Italian! As a cruiser, this is perhaps the most usable Supercar known to man. The comfortable, quiet, and almost serene nature at highway speeds makes the car feel like it's begging for a long trip (which the NSX’s trunk will accommodate with ease). The Jekyll & Hyde character of the NSX is perhaps its best trait, one instance a great track car, the next a comfortable cruiser. The bullet-proof engine is why so many have logged hundreds of thousands of trouble-free miles in their NSXs. The 6-speed gearbox has a Honda-engineered rifle-bolt precision, and a lack of any stability control aids and an intentionally fighter-jet inspired level of visibility over a descending nose only add to the experience when it’s time to transition back from the highways to the backroads.

Most comparable-quality NSX on the market are asking between $100,000 and $150,000.

    We are asking $97,500 OBO.

The details of this 2002 Acura NSX (VIN number JH4NA21672T000210) are:

The NSX is magnificent. I wish I'd bought one a while back. I'm also old school and prefer the pop up headlights

somehow I'm surprised you never had one, they seem right up your alley.

IMO the original NSX and the 12C have a lot in common, in terms of representing a sea change in the exotic sports car market.

I agree on the early pop up headlight cars. I'd love to have a Zanardi edition.

btw, fun factoid, in addition to Senna, Bobby Rahal did a fair amount of development work on the car (Rahal was among the first factory Honda teams in IndyCar as well)

The Zanardi edition is a rare beast, only 51 made and many of those modified and/or abused...

If you want a truly rare pop-up headlight NSX, what you'll need is a 1997-2001 coupe (with the updated 3.2L engine & 6-speed transmission), a special-order option in the USA of which only 19 cars (!) were made. :)

The fixed-headlight cars such as ours shown above brought about a number of significant enhancements, though, especially in the aerodynamics department.

Magnificent car indeed, and a stark reminder of how much Honda has lost itself. Did they sell any 2002+ coupe versions here?

Wonderful cars, had a 1991 from 1999-2006. Those that call it an Accord never drove it as it was intended. GLWS, they do not get much nicer than this one!

might want to fact check that, all Zanardi cars were 3.2l with a 6 speed manual.

at any rate, I like the history behind the Zanardi edition (makes one wonder why there was never a "Senna" edition), the lighter weight of that car, hard top, no power steering, the special wheels and 3.2 with 6 speed spec. it's basically a US legal, special edition Type R. that's what turns my crank. to each their own :)

I know, but my point is the standard coupes were even rarer than the Zanardis FWIW.

The Zanardi was actually a US-legal Japanese Market Type-S with a few small changes, but now we're splitting hairs. ;)

Agreed, and what's just as rare is a one-owner-from-new 2002 NSX in the condition of the thread's subject!

What is parts availability like? Does Honda support this car and if so how long will they be doing this?

If it means anything, I own a 1967 Honda CL/77 Scrambler motorcycle, and I very recently purchased a Honda part from a local dealership.

Not suggesting that the cars are the same as the motorcycles, but I'd venture a guess that NSX parts are available.

That's really pretty good. If Honda does this well with its cars then that's great news.

Parts should be no problem. Not just because its a Honda, but like Mercedes they use a lot of the same parts on other popular models. As a long as there is a demand for those parts, Honda like Mercedes will stock those parts.

Its has some interesting design history. With really cool looks. Honda made the mistake of saying we are trying to be like a Ferrari for Honda money, back when the car was new. They should have followed the Porsche marketing playbook:

Just kidding, we like to bring amazing deals, there is actually a little flexibility with the asking price, lots of interest but still needs to be headed into someone's garage for this summer! I'm not renowned for exaggeration, and I'm confident when I say you won't find another NSX as nice.

I started looking last night. Almost all are high mileage examples. Or they are high miles and modified. Very few untouched low miles around.
