Ran across this on early s registry FS: 1979 Porsche 911 SC & Turbo Sales Training Book Perhaps for those that like to collect EVERYTHING related to these awesome cars. Not affiliated
Nicely restored early 3.3 930. If you look closely, this one includes the correct "wide beam, R/L" left column stalk. I included an extra picture to show closer detail. This design was proper on the early 3.3 930's in 1978 as well as for the first 500 or so early North American 1979 Model Year 79 Build Type 930's. On NA cars they appear in conjunction with a right hand stalk having, "WIPE WASH". RoW 930's have a right stalk with stylized wiper, washer pictures. These early left stalks were also used on 3.0 930's. I have seen green stencil, in place of white, used in the triangle areas in 1975. Many early 3.0 and 3.3 930's no longer have these correct left stalks. They have been replaced with the larger later style stalks, possibly due to the infamous headlight electrical problems we've all heard about. just put mine up for sale: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/other-cars/517569-1979-porsche-930-soon-sale.html
. There were several sets of left and right steering column stalks for the 1978 and 1979 930's. Here is a series of what the combinations look like. All North American 1978 930s and the first 500 or so early North American 1979 Model Year 79 Build Type 930's had; - Left Stalks with a "wide beam" stylized headlight and, "R/L" in upward and downward triangles - Right Stalks with "WIPE WASH" (pictures below). . . The last 300 or so later North American 1979 Model Year 79 Build Type 930's and all North American 1979 Model Year 80 Build Type 930's had; - Left Stalks with a "narrow beam" stylized headlight and, left and right "arrows" - Right Stalks that were printed with a stylized picture of a windshield showing the washer and wiper (pictures below). . . RoW 1978 and 1979 Model Year 930's had; - Left Stalks with a "wide beam" stylized headlight and, "R/L" in upward and downward triangles (like the early NA 78/79 930s) - Right Stalks were printed with a stylized pictures of a windshield with wiper and a windshield with washer (pictures below). . The CoA, signed 1/1994, I have for my '79 NA 930 does not even mention the Build Date (I've always relied on the Door Jamb VIN Sticker.for the build month and year for 930's of our vintage). The new CoA's I'm now seeing, for the early 3.3 930's, list not only the build month and year, but also the exact day the car was built. Is this what Porsche is now supplying on all CoA's for our early 3.3 930's? .
That would be great if they are including it. I believe the factory has the build dates for all the 1970s Turbos but for some reason they did not include it on the PCNA COAs. If you have a U.S. Turbo with the original owner's manual and door jam VIN decal, it's not much of a mystery but for RoW Turbos, it would be a great addition to have.
What i'd actually like to know for my 930 is the build day from the factory. New CoA's seem to have it. I do have all the other things including the maintenance book stamped and dated by SIC upon delivery but that's not what I'm looking for. Thinking the exact build date of my car might be interesting to know. .
Well... There is indeed a place for the build date.... But here is what some of them say when they arrive (albeit for an '86): Image Unavailable, Please Login
Awesome, thanks for sharing. Mr. Competitor Plus! Was lucky enough to see him race - back in the day.
You're welcome. Correction, it was actually a 1978... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/142224619-post634.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
Lots of good talk about '79 valuations based on a number of variables. Just wondering what the group thinks of the valuation for a fully restored '79 930 in a rare PTS color. I currently have my '79 undergoing a complete restoration but with a few minor improvements for better driving. I did that because the car was not 100% original when I got it...it has a RUF 5-speed tranny and a few other minor upgrades (brakes, A/C). The car won't be 100% original but will look original in appearance, except the A/C compressor. All numbers match. The few enhancements could always be reversed. Almost all new parts required will be NOS. Here's the original car: Plantation White with brown leather. It's #894. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You'll want to sell that ruf 5 speed as that will only hurt your value. Put the funds toward a correct 4 speed. You may have some funds left over to put toward your restoration effort. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That car that was at Luftgekuhlt this past Sunday. Stunning color combo, Caledonia Green paint to sample over brown leather, original in and out. It got A LOT of attention, and for good reason.
