Gary - always good to see you! As to this twin turbo 400, the pictures do it all the justice! I took a few pics but will not post duplicates of the ones already showing above... I believe the rear suspension is on its way out, and there's a rust bubble in the driver's side quarter window trim - the pic doesn't pick it up all too well, and it also does not show how the paint is significantly fading past its clear coat on the roof right where the driver's head would be. Overall, there are too many scratches to count, both in the interior as well as in the exterior. If the new owner belongs and/or joins this forum, by all means please let us know your plans with the car.

On a side note, I did remember reading on BJ description sheet that this car got an upgraded 4 speed transmission, but I assume they had to replace the corresponding rear end and driveshaft - a lot of work for a car whose cosmetics seem to not have received the same amount of attention :(

It is lot # 353.....it will go across the block Saturday....they sold lot # 203 at 8:00 pm Friday, when TV coverage stopped, however, the live auction will continue until 9 or 10 or whenever BJ chooses to stop for the day. They are scheduled to sell to lot # 248 on Friday night, but they DO skip around on the lot #'s often.

The auction begins Saturday at 11:00 am, but does not broadcast on TV until 2 pm till 4 pm on Discovery channel, then from 4 pm till 8 pm on Velocity channel, tune in every half hour or so to see how fast they are moving.

Or, check BJ on line to look at results, there is some delay, but it is possible to guess a close time as to when the 400i will sell by watching the lot numbers......

Or just wait until a fellow f-chatter posts it up........which is likely what most will do.....

I notice the shift indicator on the console still is for a three speed. I'll believe the transmission swap claim when I see pictures of it in the car.

Good catch! It may still have what we used to call the "Psychedelic Transmission" with 3 speeds: LSD! :D

Means nothing. I would do the same if I converted mine too because all it would mean is you cant select 1st gear manually because of the shifter range and OD being where D is on the factory indicator.

Paul if you ever want to do the mod please let me know. We could split the expenses. I found a guy who can do the diff gears for what seem very fair.

Would any experts know what years the console of this car were produced?

Do you have a specific name for them?

What do you mean? The shifter console alone of the complete ferrari console.
The shifter is for sure a GM would have to search for the proper year and model.

Losing the power hog TH400 trans in favour of a TH350 would be an improvement! I would like to do a 700R4, lockup non-functional. Zero electronics. If I could borrow a 400 transmission from a 400 I could make an adapter to replace the 700R4 tail stock. Then my car isn't sidelined the whole time.

My preference is the torque tube route but I know how I could do it with a conventional shaft. Probably be easier and cheaper.

Paul it could be a winter project. We will keep talking about this. I personally would want the lock-up. The swap kit allready exist for the Corvettes with better torque stall. I know it would wake up the car a lot just with the first gear ratio.

I have access to cheap or free machining and welding for the torque tube. To put up the project prototype.

No the whole (leather?) console, minus the shifter, with the 4 fan levers to the left of the shifter, which are unusual as I have normally seen only the buttons to the left of the shifter, just as there are buttons to the right and bottom on this console?

    Is it an aftermarket console?

The shifter is Fiat 130...not GM.
