One of a handful of Royales. Saw it at Pebble with five or six other Royales in either 1992 or 1994. You are right about night driving Bob...no headlights. This might have been a rebodied car.

I wonder why the spare tire is perfectly vertical? Given the degree of style on the rest of the car, was it an oversight to not slant the spare tire to confirm to the slant of the trunk?

Aha! Your picture depicts the spare in the anticipated position. Maybe the poor chap in the first two photos needed to change a tire.

And look at the size of the steering wheel ... :D

As a coupe guy I would prefer a Bucciali TAV 12, a nice little coupe, wheelbase enormeous 4.10 m (OK, a little less than that of the Royale), but height just 1.45 m .. :D

    Cheers, Bernhard

P.S.: I recently was surprised to learn that my Bucciali book apparently has become quite valuable ...

One of my favorites...I spent 2 hours inspecting that car from every angle a few years ago. Seeing it next to other cars of its period.......was a mind-blower to contrast the height comparisons!

Anybody know what kind of bird the large chrome emblem affixed to each side of the hood is suppose to represent? Pelican? Stork?

It is a stylized Stork as seen on the flanks of the planes flown by Albert Bucciali's squadron in The Great War.

Always been completely fascinated with the Royales and the Buccialis! They are over the top gorgeous cars.
