Dear Sid, you haven't envisioned what will be, as this "cost" curtain is being pulled. As we speak, the toys behind the curtain have a much greater value than ever imagined. Cheers, Hank
Based on those listed prices, the 88 coupe I purchased last year was overpriced. It is a great car, and the best I found. Price was fair market value. What are these prices based on? Hagertys number are more reflective of the market.
Condition 2:coupe prices from Hagerty. Mondial 8 - 27,900 Q.V. - 30,000 3.2 - 33,200 T - 39,000 Cars I've seen in this condition have prices in this range or higher based on the usual factors.
Right, Im disagreeing with myself and agreeing with other peoples input .... 8 high is too low QV cab high must be worth more than that by $10k The T coupe is to low, and generally the difference between the medium quality and high end is too small.......
Interesting to look at how many Fs are for sale on this site. Loads more than anything else. That says to me risk and exposure. Anyway Im hopefully never selling so no problem. Classic Cars for Sale on Car And Classic | www.carandclassic.co.uk Image Unavailable, Please Login
Seems some odd differences in convertibles verses hardtops for the models. The break out of t values seems worthy but would make more sense if all top condition cars had a much greater spread. I think the market must be very thin for this type of data, would be interesting to see the sample sizes that are used, which geographic markets, etc.
In Europe it seems that way Howie, more coupe's over here... In fact from the prices I've seen in the time I've been looking it would seem the t coupe is the only model that is as, or more, expensive in the states... The kudos of the '43'. As the previous poster said, geography and volume of transactions would skew these results dramatically.
The T coupe valuation is hyped up due to being available for just the 1st yr produced as most everyone knows. That said there were some yrs in the 3.2 production where i believe not even 40 were produced. Both models here are rare stateside.
Except for the 8, there were far more Cabs sent to North America. 43 Total t Coupes 87 Total 3.2 Coupes 69 Total QV Coupes - of which only 19 were 1985 models. What would really be great info, is if we had a breakdown by color, year, model, etc. Sid Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sid, Thank you for posting the charts. So it seems That FNA was just pumping out the T coupes like crazy in 89 by comparison to earlier yrs!!!
1989 was the last year FCNA imported the Mondial Coupe to North America, although the T coupe was still in production and sold in other markets after 1989. 1 car was allocated to each of the dealers, including 3 in Canada.
Those charts look familiar Yep, as per the letter: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/mondial/231024-here-mondial-t-coupe-production-letter-ferrari.html
It does not matter. Once my interior is done my 8 will be like new and I will just drive it till it can't be driven any longer and have a blast doing it.
I didn't buy my Mondial as an investment. A Ferrari that I could work on, was number 1 on my bucket list. Other than that, a Coupe was really the only driving factor in which Ferrari I chose (obviously price - No way was I going to spend huge sums of money). Those factors led me to either a 3x8, 400, or a Mondial. I was a little intimidated by the V12 in the 400. And, the Mondial was more comfy (and drove better) than the 3x8. Hence, I found myself the proud owner of an 85 Coupe. Took about a year to find just the right one! I'll drive this thing until I die - loving every minute of it. And then it will pass to my adult son. If it never appreciates in price - I could care less. If it does appreciate.., that's ok too. Sid
Were those your graphs? When I first joined FCHAT last year, I copied those charts as I was looking for a Mondial. That's the kind of info that I think makes this forum such a great place. That and the people that are always willing to lend help and advice! Sid
The Coupes are a different world and discussions were few. So I built those charts to show why, and to help those who wanted one understand why they're so difficult to find.
