    Greetings!

Great thread! Quite surprised to find all this Vanquish talk on a Ferrari forum. Who knew! I thought it was all on AMOC, and some on Piston Heads, but obviously I was ill informed.

Have had my 02 for a year and a half. Great car. A simply wonderful GT that gathers lots of attention when stopped. People don't know what it is, but they know they like it. It's interesting how few Astons you ever see; by comparison, Fs and Ls are a proverbial dime a dozen.

How about this for a happy coincidence? My car's interior is 'Ferrari Cuoio', so I guess this IS the place to be!

Armen, yes I spotted that VQ a fe days back. Carfax is very clean too. I'll take that one anytime over the other one. Price is high for VQ in the USA but that car has less miles than mine at now over 8000!
This one is the one made right after the black 06 for 129K for sale in LI.
EDIT: it is sickening to see all these VQ that go for sale here, especially the S, with pretty much no miles on them. A VQ S with over 10K miles seems to be the odd car out.. the inital buyers did not enjoy the car. :(

Just a quick note that I am enjoying my 2006 Vanquish S in Atlanta. The car is a real pleasure to drive on an almost daily basis. I also have a BMW motorcycle and a vintage Landcruiser so my motoring gets split depending on my mood and weather conditions.

    Happy Holidays to all!

Ran across this one today: 2004 Aston Martin Vanquish - V12

New S clutch and appears to be well sorted with good options. And it's an SDP car too! Great price compared to other non-S cars on the market lately. Too bad it's about 6mo too soon for me! Would love to pick this up. Has anyone else looked at this?

It is not an SDP ;)
Look, it has the "normal" seats (not the S ones as all SDP get), the rims are the "classical one" (not the typical SDP ones).
An SDP would have been more expensive.

    But She's a Beauty in this combo !!! :)

    Hey Armen,

I was wondering the same.....SDPs have those great 9-spoke wheels and I can't tell if this one has slotted rotors or not, but doesn't appear to. Odd that is has the clear start button though, as I thought all pre-SDP and S cars were red.

Start button is easy to change. Looks better anyway.
That car can probably be had for less than 55k the way thing are now.

Edit: it looks quite nice by the way. For mid 50s that is quite a catch . 10k probably means new clutch in the job.

yes. does not have the right rims either although these look good. At the end of the day, I find myself preferring the early seats for a minor improved shoulder comfort.
The same way some 05/06 were ordered from factory with older seats, I think SDP were also ordered with the early seat as of preference from customers.
Althought , I would not be surprised that 9K car (remember anything over 8K miles is heavy miles on a USA Vanq :) ) could go in the low 60s given the "right buyer".

What are you owners spending per year on maintenance? $3-4K?

On our '07 S, so far, only $1.5k every 2 years - normal service :)

Then it depends, if you must replace the clutch ($10k), coils/spark plugs ($5k), all brakes ($5k), tires ($1k), sure the bill can go up very quickly. But as any car...

¿Has anyone converted their Vanquish or Vanquish S into MT?

Would love to read an experience behind it.

I enquired with Aston Works Service last year about the conversion, and the cost has risen substantially they quoted me 21k Sterling plus taxes of 20%

yes sometimes when things go wrong, you will have a $20K to $50K pricxe tag. It is typical to any high end exotics. One thing leads to doing another "while in there".
Happend to me on a 6K mile car...

But, once done and if the right guy worked on it, you basically get a new improved car that will last for another 7 to 10 years before another big bill assuming you dont drive more that a few thousands mile / year.
Funny thing is the car looked new but springs were shot from simply sitting (out of specs), oil pan gasket / timing cover gasket shot from sitting (engine out).

Since mine was gone thru with engine out, no oil leaks, no lights no issues of any kind, all OEM parts. So I figure the big major as being part of the purchase price and that give me an A+ car.

Now I use the car at least every other weeks and winter I do a garage dance at least every 3 weeks.

There's at least one guy at the AMOC forum who converted his car into a MT.

    Interdasting.

I wonder what the market's really at then... I've been watching Cars.com for 7+ months, and it seems many of the same cars are still sitting with 02-04s around $60-75k asking, and Vanquish S asking $80-100k.

Then there's the Bonhams Scottsdale S with only 3k miles estimated at $65k USD.
