I assume you know about the dial not being genuine; is the rest of the watch ok?

Actually the Tudor was a line that Rolex made from 1946 to 2004. Back then the goal was to create a secondary brand that was less expensive than the Rolex brand yet still had all of the same mechanicals and reliability (similar to Ford/Lincoln and such). Alot of original owners refinished the Tudor dials with a Rolex overlay and yes that is why the dial is not origonal to the watch and was a unique blue. This case is a 40mm case (not the standard 35mm of Rolex) so it is a little larger which I like. That is what attracted me to the piece, it had an interesting pedigree in history. The only change I made over the years was I took off the origonal Tudor Jubilee band and replaced it with the gold Presidential band which I thought looked a little better and matched a diamond Presidential bracelet that that I also had.

Besides, I dont think that a knockoff movement would keep purring along for 20 years without loosing a second. I dont remember the type of movement from that long ago but I had it checked out back then to make sure that I wasnt throwing my money away on a knockoff.

    Smart move.

That is exactly why I questioned it.

I am brutal on watch bracelets. The first thing I do is take the high dollar factory bracelet off and stick it in the safe. Then I put a good quality aftermarket bracelet on it so once I've destroyed it I can easily, and inexpensively, replace it.

FYI, likely either a Valjoux or an ETA. I could tell you if you sent me the serial number.

this is my recent acquisition, a clean and classic Wittnauer from the 1950s. I got it because the font for the hours was very attractive, go figure....
It is a little small for today's tastes, but this little automatic is happy on any winder (Cw, ccW, or both) and keeps great time.
And this was the company with a first female watch CEO !

Yep, I think Pap's encouragement in this thread is responsible for many thousands of dollars of new watch acquisitions.

Not a recent pic, from a month ago I think but will post it up anyway as I love my watch. :D

I wear it all the time, but don't think to take too many pics of it.

Picked this up yesterday - a new Rolex Submariner Date, 116610LV (green), aka the Hulk.

Was very lucky to be able to get it, the local ADs all have long waiting lists for the LV (as do the ADs elsewhere in Canada) - I got on the waiting list in September. With the current low Canadian $, Rolexes in Canada are quite a bit cheaper than in the US, so Rolex Canada ADs are selling a LOT of watches to Americans - this watch was reserved for a car dealership owner out of Minnesota, but he couldn't get here to pick it up within the time period for which they could hold it, so my sales rep called me and said "My client can't pick it up, If you can get here in the next 30 minutes it's yours, otherwise it will be offered to the next person on the waiting list". I was there in well under 30 minutes! ;) There is rumoured to be a big price increase coming to all the offerings of Rolex Canada, rumours in the range of 15% to 25%, on Feb 1!

This is just office lighting, but the colour of the dial varies significantly just on the viewing angle.

Too much green? :p There's no such thing! :D Obviously having a very green watch will not limit my wardrobe choices in any way (despite the obvious assumption, I'm not actually colour blind ;) )
