There are some malicious people out there - at the moment this is kind of below the radar to the outside world.

Unless entry and modification access is restricted to designated people personally I think it's better off staying as it is which is a shame really.

Just my opinion for what it's worth.

Thank you for entering your engine numbers.

If anyone is having difficulty finding their engine number see attached photos (copyright Marcel Massini, Engine from a 365 GTC/4 in the vintage forum). The digits within the "**" are all we need, 3-5 digits depending on year and model.

While the spreadsheet can be edited by anyone with the link, it's content is not subject to a Google search like the "cut and paste" list in the other thread which is already visible for ever and contains essentially the same "personal data"

If privacy is a concern, the data is better off in the spreadsheet.

A simple Google search on my name and city (as in the spreadsheet list), returns my age, profession, address etc... This is why I believe the list should be reduced in details and/or protected. The list in the other thread does allow to identify the persons eventually but it requires more effort to reach the objective.

    Agree.
I believe we are exposed in many ways, I recently received a letter (yes, the old paper mail) from a guy who searched the national registry and got to all my details... Name, address... And made an offer to buy my 365... And sent greetings on my birthday... so, our file is not my biggest concern ☺☺☺

Still... is there any expert in adding some 'security' to our file ?
I opened it and it looks like several Fchat members are removing personal info... of course, this is perfectly legitimate, but I wonder if we'd miss the opportunity to create a real community.

What about adding the FChat nickname only ? We could get in touch via FChat if needed...
    Ideas welcome !

Yes with that serial number it would have most likely been built during 1979.

The list to the spreadsheet appears to be broken. I am getting a 404 error.

Some interesting engine number data in the spreadsheet.

    Regarding 17919, the engine number 505 is too low for a 365 GT4 2+2, but could have originally belonged to a 365 GTC/4. For comparison, 16293, the 3rd prototype 365 GT4 2+2 has engine number 603 and 17939 has 896.

Regarding 21781, I wonder if it had a brand new factory replacement engine at some point as it has engine number 521 and the last known carb 400, 28261, has engine number 510. An early 400 such as 21781 would originally have had an engine number around the 110-130 range.

    Hi David,

I'm asking myself the same question why my car (17919) has such a low engine number. The complete history is with the car and it doesn state an engine swap. Perhaps some is missing... Unfortunately the engine number is not stated in the warranty bookled, only the chassis number.

The other question I have is regarding my other 365 (17539), it has engine code F101AC001 instead of 000 at the end. Anyone knows what the difference is between 000 and 001?

    Thanks and best regards,
    Toon

You may be right as I suspect engine #121 was original, but have no info from last two owners about engine change. Have not succeeded in revealing 21781's complete history yet.

    Hi Toon,
I don't know the answer to your question regarding the engine numbering difference between F101AC001 and F101AC000, but looking in my database I have recorded all known RHD 365 GT4 2+2 engines as "...001" and a mixture of "..000" and "..001" for LHD. It is strange; as far as I know there were no changes made to the 365 GT4 2+2 engines during the production run.

Added the full engine number of #80194.

From what I can deduce, 412 engine numbers ran sequentially from 1 to about 415, and then switched to 5 digits, of which the first two indicate the production date (quarter?).
So I think my engine F101E010*15699*
    was either produced Q4 1988 or Q1 1989 - signified by the "15" (the 5 digit numbering started with a "10" in 1987).
Further additions to the spreadsheet would be helpful to understand this further.

    Added 59361 and 52983 (39533 already there)...

Tassie, I'm very sorry but I have lost your message... would you be so kind to re-send Year/LHD or RHD/Engine nbr for the VIN's listed below ?

Also, is 27535 auto or manual ?

You can send to [email protected], thanks !

Thank you Tassie, all your cars updated with the info you gave me !

Statistics updated (Click on the Statistics tab), highlights below:
    - a total of 84 vehicles registered: majority (60%) is 400/400i (respectively 45 and 15 %), then n25% are 365 and the rest (15%) 412
    - 84 means approx 5% of total vehicles made between '72 and '89 we have abt 9% of the 400/412, 4% of the 365 and 2% of the 412
    - ca 40% of the registered vehicles are automatic, ca 50% LHD (for 20% we don't know, the rest is WHD :) )

Please continue to send information, either on this forum or to my email ([email protected])

    Have a great day, cheers
    Marco
