Hi guys, very sorry for the late reply.

Thank you, it's definitely my favourite and it's absolutely amazing.

    I haven't touched it since I put that pic up..............March last 2014. :p

    Hi buddy,

I was asked nicely not to share any of the details, but it will make for a good story in 50 years time when I eventually sell the collection. :)

I dont buy guitars any more, but still accumulate them ;)

My latest purchases have been a Diezel Herbert, and a DAR FBM100. Oh, and a Marshall vintage modern or something like that. And a couple more quad boxes. And a positive grid setup on its way...

Cool man!! I think we never stop accumulating guitars over time. :D

Especially when you make them, as in your case. :D

Hey Pap. I guess we also have music in common. I keep buying guitars too. Always think the new one will make me play better. Have about 8 electric guitars in cases stacked up in the basement. Still reach for my Gibson SJ Deluxe Acoustic (1970) just for convenience. Someday I'll sell off a few to buy another Fcar.😊

Reading this way late but I may just have to pick one of these up. How easy is it to adapt to the scalloped frets?

Lol, very good! We have a lot in common.

I will buy a 458 one day.

I don't like acoustics man, never got the feel for them.

I love my electrics though, especially ESP KH guitars! They feel just right! :D

I have the scalloped frets on my ESP KH2-SE.

I don't really like them to be honest. It's the only guitar I have with them and when I play down low I don't like the feel, but I guess I am not used to playing them either.

All my other ESP KH guitars don't have them and I play the other ones more than this one.

In actual fact, I don't play anywhere near as much as I used to.

Interesting. I see that on your ESP it is only on higher frets vs. all frets on the YJM. I wonder if that is part of it (the transition?)

Plus as you mentioned, it looks like something one needs to get accustomed to.

I play with a lighter left hand touch for neoclassical, and slightly different hand position than when I play blues. I am going to have to try one of these at Guitar Center... I had considered buying years ago but that post rekindled my interest. I think part of me hopes it will help get my vibrato to be even 1/2 as good as Yngwie's, but I think that is wishful thinking!

    hah, that looks pretty cool.

Honestly didn't realize so many variations.

I used to do lots of my bending down low on the neck during my SRV era.

That plus 13 - ~58 gauge strings really shredded the fingers (thank the lord for the 1/2 step drop tuning!)

On a related note, if you have never checked out Troy Grady, I suggest doing so. Even after my 25+ years of playing, it gave me some insights on techniques that, even if I'm already doing, I didn't really realize consciously.

Has really cleaned up some of my faster playing (judging from the guitars posted here, I think there are some metal/neoclassical players in the house!)

Yeah, on the ESP it's something Kirk Hammett has only started to use over the last few years.

I am not 100% sure he will have the fret board scalloped all the way up like the Yngwie guitar, but you never know.

I am happy to play without the scallops. If you played everyday then it would take some getting used to and then because you play everyday it wouldn't take long to get on top of it.

I am going to go and see if I can locate a YJM signature edition at Guitar Center to try out.

I have never played one or (any scalloped fretboard guitar for that matter). If it makes me play like Yngwie I will be buying it...

Interesting that Hammett is using it now as he does a lot of high e trill / hammer on work in his solos (at least in the Black album and prior era). I would imagine it would be trickier or require more finesse to trill off the scallops on high string, but I guess I need to play one to really understand...
