    Greetings:

I am looking for a 1987, 1988 or 1989, 930 Slant Nose Cabriolet or Targa with under 15,000 miles. I am just interested in a Factory Slant Nose (M505) not a conversion. I prefer to buy from a private owner rather than a dealer.

I am looking for a pristine original example not a driver. Please pm me with any leads.
    Thanks in advance!

    Antonio

I realize no dealers, but a company called Sloan usually has a couple. They only sell used Porsche with low miles. No affiliation. Their prices are usually on the very high side, but the inventory is typically top notch.

I just checked their site. They have two 89's, considering how many came to the U.S. in 89, you won't find better. One has 9k miles.

Doesn't help with your no dealer statement (and not sure why you would feel this way as the true Porsche specialists will most likely own better cars and know more about them than a private party will)....but Ray Joseph (RPM Sports Cars) in Houston should be your first call.

We have had terrible experience with Sloan.

I bought a 928 from them a few years ago. My only complaint was they had high prices. I've herd mixed reviews on them over the years. His inventory is always above average. On a rare Porsche, the slant nose is rare, you likely won't find nicer anywhere else. The main complaint I hear, is people pay a premium, then decide the car wasn't a 100% like new museum piece they thought it was. Do an inspection in person, do a PPI.

Amir, Z, Collector and Nelson, thank you for your responses. I prefer to purchase directly from the owner because I want to know the history of the car and get a feeling for its lineage and how it was serviced, driven and kept. As stated in my original post, it is a preference not an absolute must.

I have found most dealers to be lacking in their knowledge base of the very cars that are in their inventory. I understand if you need to look into the particular vehicle in question and get back to me with the details but most times you are lucky if they return your call and provide basic information about the car. Most of the time they have no clue as to its service history. I have done very well buying my Testarossa and Countach privately from two great individuals. I want a repeat performance for the trilogy.

Buying privately has advantages for both the buyer and the seller. I will pay them more than what they will receive by trading their vehicle in and I will get a complete history of the car that I am buying. I spoke to Richard Sloan and IMO I would not purchase a car from him. Not only did I find his answers to be lacking in substance but he states a lot of factually incorrect information such as the number of slant nose Porsches produced” (1 of 28 US 930S cabriolets built in 1989)” and the cost of the M505 Slant Nose option” (Factory 505 Slantnose ($29,555.00 option)” in what seemed to me to hype the cars that he is selling. I don’t like people who overhype or market their cars and that’s the feeling that I got from our conversation and as you could see from the copy on his website, he is supposed to know these cars in particular inside out:
"Richard’s vast knowledge of all Porsche models, garnered from a career spanning more than 30 years, is a unique resource for every Porsche enthusiast and Sloan Car customer. This is a place where passionate Porsche collectors visit, by private appointment only, to make their dreams a reality."

There has been a lot written on Ray at RPM. If you go to some of the forums and read the threads or do a Google search on him, you could make up your own mind as to if you would want to do business with him.

I thank all of you for the leads and to those who have reached out to me privately. I truly appreciate every response and ask you to keep it coming. I have met a lot of great people on F Chat and the people here who know me, know that I would do anything I could to help a fellow F Chatter.

    Thank you for the help!

My Dad has one. Its a Red targa (factory slant) with around 10,000 original miles. He bought it when it was 2 years old. He told me the other day he has the original factory window sticker for the car. If your interested I can try to get you in touch or get some pic?
