even if you own a f-car, mostly the dealer experience sucks. Lets not forget that they are selling a luxury product not just cars. Yet this whole get on the list thing, this whole buy some crappy ones form us first to be an important custo, mer etc. Maybe enough welathy people have low enough self esteem to think they thye are somehow elevated by this, but to me and others it sucks.

Fearrari could have sold me 2 new cars in the last decade. But between the dealers, and the product its an epic fail. If ferrari wants to get to 9k units, they are going to need more than Gt offerings, ie allow enthusiast clients to buy machines like a speciale, and while I dont need a free cappuchino, when I write a 3-400k check I dont want to be treated like some looser trying to get into a crappy vegas nightclub.

I also dont want to buy used. Some of us are particular about out machines. a car driven by some stockbroker twit, never warmed properly thrashed for 6 months is not for me even if it looks nice. I like to buy really fine products that I plan on keeping indefinatly.

As long as ferrari acts like they are some pseudo exclusive club with a door policy, while simultaneously just moving metal liek used car dealers, a lot of serious people shop elsewhere.

If you made the money to buy a ferrari, esp if you have your own buisness, odds are the ferrari sales practices are an affront.

I was in Vegas all last week for a yearly work event. I was going to drop into this place one last time b/c I heard it was closing at the end of the yr-but I couldn't get away. Sounds like it's already gone!

It's a pity-I've been in there a few times and love the idea of an fcar dealer in a high end casino. Did this really unravel b/c Wynn resold a laferrari early?

I have had great experiences with Ferrari of Newport Beach more than once.

First time: I walked in off the street with a friend. No call in advance. I was dressed very casually. I came to see a specific car I knew they had hit they had no way of knowing.

Sales consultant was super knowledgeable and spoke frankly about their inventory. I took a liking to a rare pre-owned car I had come to see and was able to test drive it briefly. I bought it about a week later over the phone/email.

Came in a second time a few years later. Spoke to a different sales consultant who did not know I previously bought a car there. He was super helpful and more than generous with his time despite the fact I made it clear to him I was just in the area and wanted to see what they had

Old story.. Probably from 99 it 2000. But I was just out of university and stopped into the PA showroom because they had an f40. I asked if I could simply look at the car and mentioned that it was my favorite Ferrari ever but disclosed I could not even come close to affording it.

The sales guy not only welcomed me to look but also opened the car for me so I could get a really good look! It was the closest I had been to any Ferrari let alone my dream Ferrari. I am still grateful to the sales guy for taking the time and only wish I could remember his name...

Wow-that's nuts. Having a small fcar dealer in a high end casino just seems so damn right. I found that place by accident on an morning jog to the Wynn a number of years ago. I just wanted to see what the Wynn looked like and find a clean water fountain. The place wasn't even open for the day yet-I couldn't believe I didn't know it was there and I still love the idea

I doubt he'll be selling fcars (or any other high end cars) in his casino being built in Everett ma!

I don't think that I have ever been treated badly by sales people at a Ferrari dealership. I could be wrong but I can't remember. To be honest, I don't go into many in the first place unless there is a car I want to buy or I'm looking for NOS F40 or Challenge parts.

However, I have seen something that is sort of the opposite that I think is totally ridiculous. I have seen it at FoFL, FoPB, and FoD. I have watched people come in to the dealership with a very obvious air of entitlement but dressed so badly that they look homeless. Look, I'll be the first to say that I don't dress very well and I don't think that I've ever walked into a dealership dressed in anything more than shorts or jeans and a t shirt or sweater but I do my best to not look completely homeless.

However, that's not the issue. The issue is that it's like they are daring the salesperson to treat them poorly or attempt somehow to challenge the fact that they can afford a Ferrari. It's like they're just waiting for the opportunity to shout at the top of their lungs, "YOU DON'T THINK THAT I CAN BUY THIS CAR???? I'M A GAZZILIONAIRE!!! I CAN BUY THIS WHOLE DEALERSHIP 10 TIMES OVER!!!" and spout off that Ferrari of Whatever treated them like crap. I am waiting for it to happen but each time I see it, the salesperson always act courteous and professional and the person seems disappointed each time that they weren't treated like crap.

I think that things like that are dumb.

Even worse, I've seen people go into high end dealerships and let their kids climb over the doors into convertibles and stand on the seats. Raining outside, mud on their shoes. Then the parents smile and say "Oh, we could never afford anything like this but he really loves the cars."

Yeah, all salesmen want to clean the seats of a Bentley (I saw that one myself) because you are a crappy entitled parent.

The rudeness works both ways. My husband worked in the luxury/exotic car industry for almost 20 years. He's seen it from all angles.

FAF was really good to you back in the day.

My first visit in 1986 when I was just 18 and dead broke burger flipper, I was taken for a ride in a 308 QV.

I came back 11 years later and bought my QV and an Alfa from the the guy that was so nice to me that afternoon.

Great treatment in Dallas back in 88. A salesman took me to the shop and let me sit in and start a TR they had just gotten in on a trade.

(I have pics to prove it too. :))

Please. I stopped by in May and could have died in the showroom without anyone giving me a lick of attention. I still think Jimmy Hoffa may be there. Dress was khaki shorts and a t-shirt.

Foreign Cars Italia actually asked me when I walked in if I needed any help. Best experience in a dealership yet. On par or better than local Porsche dealership which is excellent.

Some of you guys are ridiculous- if you want respect and attention, buy a car or know the market and options and discuss a car, buy several over the years and start a relationship and they'll know your name when you come in

    Hi Curt,

Sorry to hear that. I guess they just like my face. ;)

Quick question , I've been there at times in the middle of the day where the sales folks are in the service bay with clients.. did the salesman see you, know you were there and then just completely ignored you?

Or worse yet did their receptionist ignore you when you walked in? That's the first person that always greets me. "Hello sir, how are you...may I help you?"

Not questioning your poor experience, just want to understand where the point of failure occurred....I've been there where salesman are busy helping other customers, but the receptionist at the entrance never gave me the cold shoulder.

It seems very out of character from all the times I've been there. Also just to make sure, this is the dealership in Redwood City (El Camino Real) correct?

+1 Wide World Ferrari is one of the best, Gary helped me to get a copy of the original window sticker and Danny Garbacz and Charlie in the Service department are top notch. They also host amazing events...they had always treated me like part of the Family. I also wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Agree, but I don't think that's the issue for most people posting here about this.

I am guessing it is really hit or miss nationally, but it is surprising at this price point to see anything but great service, even if they need to "deal" with people coming in to just admire the cars. They do rely on that (indirectly) for the prices they are charging... that "regular" folk would be so enamored to come into a dealer like it's a car show. I do think it's the responsibility of those coming in just to take a peek or show their kids, to say "hey I'm really not here to buy, just want to have a look / show the kids" but I don't think the complaints in this thread have anything to do with that.

Also, just because a customer has (x) cars, shouldn't make them more worthy as a future customer. Saying that is a bit like saying they should ignore older folks (the ones who typically have (x) cars) because they are statistically likely to die sooner, and not be future customers.

I can say with certainty that at least in my personal case, I was put off by Ferrari dealer treatment. Obviously won't preclude me from ever buying a new one from a dealer, but if it embodies the general attitude of the brand, then yes I will spend my money elsewhere.

I am sure that is, in fact, NOT the issue for anyone here. I was only remarking on something that I have personally seen on several occasions at several dealerships. I'm sure that if we had any dealership salespeople here they could speak more directly to this very thing. Nonetheless, I was not suggesting that was the case with anyone here and, furthermore, it hadn't even crossed my mind that it could be.
