Thanks for the response! This afternoon I just traded in my Black '08 Sud with 25k miles on a Huracan for $165k. Here in WA we get tax credit back on trades so for me it was equivalent to getting $180k for the car which is great considering I bought it in March for $150k and put over 4K miles on it. To all those that I told earlier that I was skeptical that Scud prices are going up, I was wrong, you were right. I hope my data point helps others in their sale or purchase plans on Scuds.
Thank you for posting some real world numbers and experience. When I was looking at a 12C a couple months ago, I was offered "about $155k" trade value on my 15k mile black scud. Didn't get the 12C but am now tempted by a 650S.
I just got it today and only drove it back home in the rain. So give me a day or two and I will provide a comparison.
Got links? How many equal mileage / condition / color cars have you seen sell recently? This is a good point -- "equal" cars are very rarely on the market at the same time; the data we have is imperfect but looking at a pool of cars is likely much more reliable than zeroing in on a single transaction (recall these two 2k mileage cars from earlier this year -- 2009 Giallo on F-Chat listed for $200k (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143766752-post33.html) versus 2008 Giallo with white(!) seats last listed at $299k (2008 Ferrari 430 Scuderia Warrensville Heights, Ohio | Marshall Goldman Motor Sales). What I observe is the average 2008 listed today is $11k more than the average 2009. Im not saying the 2008s are worth more. The 2009s have on average a bit higher mileage (10k miles vs. 7k). Using the old F-chat Scud pricing model, mileage is worth $1-2 per mile. Then we still have a $6k premium in favor of the 2008s. Again Im not arguing that the 2008s are worth more but its pretty difficult to discern a premium to the 2009s certainly not a $10-15k one. Model year doesn't matter so much, rather mileage, color, stripe, interior, condition, etc. drive value. Which is what you see with other 2-year runs of bespoke cars like GT3 RS's, RS Americas and Ford GTs. The good news for owners is that its almost winter, supply is up and the average listing is still pretty strong vs. earlier this year. So I'm not complaining even if I own a lowly '08.
From watching and following the scud market for some time my (undocumented) observation is also that the 2009s clearly command a premium over the 2008s (in the US). Full disclosure: I own a 2009
I have an O8. But, if you buy it cheap, you sell it cheap. Why would an 08 be expectedly more expensive that an 09?
This is Ferrari land, so you never really know - all bets are off... Though, there was some speculation above regarding the difference in price between 08 and 09... Since you quoted my post I suppose your question was directed at it... Anyway, I agree: you buy an 08 a little cheaper, and sell it a little cheaper.
But I think all of us who owns one should be happy. I have not looked at how much my car was worth since I bought it as i really do not care and I am grateful having owned one. But I can basically trade it for thesame price that I bought it 4 years ago or even make some money out of it. I would look again in 4 years and I hope its double the price. I bought an extra house 3 months after I bought my scuderia, that house did not even earn anything. Its still thesame. I should have bought another scud>:
I wish I could buy another house for a price of a Scuderia. Alas, where I am I'm stuck in a pitiful 1,800 sq foot squaller at $1,200 per sq foot
I love pozzi blue, but the interior colors are not to my liking... Has anyone ever changed the interior on a scud because they didn't like the factory build?
A black steering wheel would be a big improvement to the interior. Light gray steering wheels are too reminiscent of cheap American cars from the '80s.
My thoughts exactly, even told the salesperson today at the listing dealership. FYI OEM/Stock exhaust back on car
Beautiful exterior, but a damn ugly interior...a black steering wheel alone will go along way, but won't fix it.
It's all a matter of taste. I don't like it too, but someone chose these colors among all the other choices, so for sure there are people, who like this one more than the red and black ones. So it will find its buyer for sure.
What are thoughts on this one: 2008, 28K miles, nero/nero. Although I'm confused if it has the complete carbon pkg. 2008 Ferrari 430 Scuderia Base 2dr Coupe In Charlotte NC - Metrolina Auto Group
You are right, it only takes one person too like it and it is sold. After all said and done, it is still a CS.
