Really? Well I guess they are broken on my car. I bought it in February and it has been in for service since March. So I haven't had time to take the door panel off. So the passenger door is supposed to unlock with the driver door? I just figured that Ferrari was behind everyone technology wise.

Well I just researched it. The passenger side should have an actuator. More projects when I get it back.

I found an ignition lock on ebay italy last week and as a back up I bought it (better to play it safe). A day later the shipping company agreed to pay for the full lock set (after they had lost keys during transit from LA to UK)
    So now I have a spare :)

Well the full lock set of of course the best option as all locks have the matching key.

A lost key is really not the end of the world.

A Safe and Lock company can disassemble, and read the pins, or change them to fit another key that you have....so those are still good parts!

After using some contact cleaner and plugging a major portion of the wiring around the car, today with the new ignition and key to hand it was just to tempting to see if this baby had any engine movement after potentially 20+ years off the road.
Bit of a risk but after feeling all the belts I decided to turn the key for a couple seconds, being convinced it would be dead but to my amazement ....the flat 12 turns over !!!
just a couple of seconds, didn't want to risk to much. Full cam belt service before going any further.

    RESULT :) :) :) :) :)

Thanks BIGTEX, nothing in this household with a prancing horse and potential gets binned. I have a loft full of Ferrari parts acquired over the years

Yes, the passenger door should open from the drivers side.

Well, I didn't say it was EASY!

losing my keys in a 308GTB took a LONG time to sort out, pulling the ignition switch and so forth.

ONce it was on the bench, it was easy!! LOL!

Front wheel arrived in the post today from the US, that completes my set of 16'. Will get the 4 refurbished and then a fresh set of rubber fitted.

Any recommendations for TR tyres ?

It has worked out cheaper to obtain a set of 16' wheels and add tyres than to get a set of TRX for the old style rims. Plus theres the safety aspect of tyre advances over 30 years.

Had a couple of hours at the weekend to tinker. I have to do the noisy jobs in the day and quite ones at night when my daughters go to bed :)

Engine . Quick test last week found that the engine turns over nicely. however will not fire up. Spark: I checked yesterday and conformed there was 'spark' Air: I have a couple of small air pipes loose and not connected, I tried to trace these back using my 1990 Euro car but there is a difference in configuration, so I need to find out where they live, I suspect they should go to the canister sat above the wheel arch (missing on my car) Fuel: on ignition I have zero fuel pump noise .....so this is where I am focusing. Firstly need to find the dam pumps location in the engine bay, so far can't see them on either car. I will then start to trace back and see why they are not working, it could be something as simple as wiring not connected (bulk of this project so far has had nothing connected).

Working at the front of the car doing some rewiring, basically the whole of this car has had the loom either removed or disconnected at some point and nothing has been connected back up. the good news is so far all works seem to be in the car /loose. I started to install the lights (front), everything was disconnected and wires had been chopped, this was not such a problem as using the 90 Euro spec car I managed to rewire them and at the same time convert to work euro style.

Firstly I used the Euro Car and mimicked the Wiring for the US lights. I then plugged the lights into the Euro car to confirm they work as should be .... all good :)

Secondly I then took the lights and wired them into the 'project' car, this was simple as the loom was perfect and the colour coding original and the same as the Euro car. Again nice result as everything worked.

Side markers, I have a question here are side markers in the US just lights permanently lit or are these like the Euro cars directional flashing indicators ?. Either way I will need to rewire these and as mentioned before I will rehouse these being the wheel arch and convert to Euro specification.

Horns: I thought I would do a nice quite job while the girls were asleep last night :)

These were all missing from my trunks of parts for the car, so I managed to track down a TR Framm horn compressor and buy new red horns from Superformance. I tested the setup on my Euro Car and found that the Framm compressor didn't work so ended up stripping it down to bits cleaning it all up and rebuilding it ...... fixed and now in the process of fitting it to the 'Project', however there seems to be some disconnect between horn button (steering wheel) and Horn itself, suspect wiring on steering column or possible fuse.

    This is a great thread!
First, that you are able to tackle such a project in such a cramped garage!
    No lift, nothing!
Also, I just simply love the spirit of it! Resurrecting one of Maranello's children that
    they never had. Fascinating!

And since I am also a product of the 80's... ;-)
