    just realized my '98 550 has '08 michelin ps2.
looking new tires, getting story about michelin not available,
their website says the new ps2 not made in 550 size.
then a story about the tires being $100-150 per tire more costly.

anyone have experience with conti's? pirellis?

I learned from Taz that you should be looking at the new Michelin Pilot Super Sports as Michelin is discontinuing the PS2.

Looks like Pilot Super Sports are now available in the right size for the 550. Previously the rear size was not available, but tire rack lists them now. They are a great tire. I plan on getting a set for my 550 in the spring. I've had them on my BMW and I was very impressed.

Has anyone tried Nitto NT555s? I put them on a Corvette, then also put them on my DB7 Vantage. They seem to perform and wear well...and are bargain cost compared to many others. I have the Michelins spoken of in this thread on my DB9. Honestly, cant seem to tell much difference...

if you look closely, unfortunately, the rack has 'less than 2'
not expected for a while. out of production, no announced date.

Try the conti extreme contact dw, I have them on my 355 and they are excellent tires, especially if you ever find yourself in rain.

I have the Conti DWs on my car as well. Really hated them at first, but they finally wore in and now they're much better.

resurrecting this thread from the past. My 550 needs new tires as it has the original Pirelli Pzero's on it, doing a quick search looks like Pirelli no longer makes these. Are the Conti DW's still the preferred choice? Anyone who has picked up tires in the last year - comments good bad would be appreciated. Driving would be mostly dry roads with possibly some rain/wet, and no tracking. Thanks-

    Tire rack offers:

I bought the Continentals for my 550. DW series and have put 28000 miles on them. Still have good tread and are quiet and comfortable.

I just put MPSS on the 550 and the Continental DW Extremes on my 19" Challenge wheels for the 360. I'll see which one I like more. I get the 360 back tomorrow and the 550 in a week or so when the major is finished.

Just put Michelin Pilot Super Sport on Nelli and they are great!

Ok, i didn't drive in the rain yet but know from my 458 that they work in the wet also great.

I have the Contis on my 456 and like them quite a bit.

Nice ride, good grip, not noisy, and much less expensive than the Michelins.

I have the MPSS tires on my 575 and love them. Price for a 550 set of the Contis from TireRack is $821 and for the MPSS $1098. Both good tires.
