Congratulations, well done!
Thank you! I have a question for whoever may know... My car was 99.5. The .5 was taken off for: CORRECT ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER Chassis number is not visible/un-readable How would I fix this confirm this or where would I look? I have a 1985 QV GTS US. It seems odd that they could not find it.
who was the judge? Who was the head judge for the class? you may want to go to them for a clarification. That you got a 99.5 is spectacular!
99.5 is absolutely amazing. Nice work, Craig! The chassis number stamped into and located on a support strut just to the left your coolant expansion tank. It's very typical to get painted over during respraying of the engine bay. An example of mine... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
All, That is not the "engine " serial number which is here. The GB and other numbers or on the bottom oil pans. Rob Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is that what it says on your score sheet that you received from the Chief Class Judge? I suspect there is a legibility problem with either the number stamping on the frame, the door plate or the steering column cover. The small number near the ignition coils is of no interest in judging. I would ask the Chief Class Judge for clarification. In any event it makes no difference to the outcome.
That is not the chassis number and it comes covered over from the factory. Judging pays no attention to that number.
I have received a response on this. They are aware and Verna said they will be sending them out as soon as they receive them. Can you please share what is the chassis number and where to find it?
Check this out, it's funny how my chassis number post#31 matches my engine number. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is not a chassis number and continuing to call it that just causes confusion as is evident in this thread. You might as well call the steering wheel a muffler. It is no less accurate. VIN is a legal term created by the federal government to legally refer to the federally required 17 digit chassis number. Chassis number is a term still often used because it includes all cars, not just those built after the law went into effect.
I believe that number is referred as an assembly number, if I'm correct. You will find that stamped or written in many places throughout the car. Chassis and VIN are one in the same.
Actually when I was getting inspected at the event the engine bay judge asked me to clean this number off slightly so that he could read it and confirm the chassis number. Craig, you'll probably need to email Jody back to clarify which number they need to see.
Then he had no idea what he was doing. There is no reference available to know if it is right or wrong. It is not the chassis number.
I received word back from the judges. "After much conversation with the engine/chassis judge, we came to the realization that he was referring to the build number and not the VIN/Chassis number stamped into the right hand chassis rail. This is something that we should not deduct for. The build number is used internally by Ferrari factory to make sure the correct parts get put on the car. I apologize for the miscommunication within my team. The good news…there is nothing that you need to correct on your car." They won't update the score sheet, but the car is basically a 100 pt car now. Thanks everyone for your feedback on my question!
Sounds like Craig's problem is resolved... and 100pts is going to be the envy of cars at shows to come! ... and now after looking back over my deductions from the meet I don't see anything 'questionable'. All the deductions on my scorecard are legit and in the process of correction. I'm giving Craig a run for his money next year!
What about if my front a rear US bumpers were pushed in? Both are completely reversible as I removed the spacers on the rear bumper and swapped out my two front bumper shocks to the MacCarbon ones. Not sure I will ever get it officially judged but still wondering.
