for what car is this compressor?
the 2 thermostats ( 109671 ) in the testarossa ( not the 512TR and not the 512M ) are equal to behr 1.173.92.300 and costs not even 10 % of the F have a look here: 1.173.92.300,BEHR THERMOT-TRONIK 1.173.92.300; Coolant Thermostat
CV joints are identical to the Porsche 930 turbo/911Turbo Carrerra. Perfect fit to spec. The ones shown are Meyle with Lobro/GKN boots, clips, circlips and grease. These are just one of a few reputeable manufacturers of CV joints for Porsche with varying prices. The most important thing is that the drive spline is identical to the Testarossa and a perfect fit. A lot of us (including myself) used this post for finding replacement solenoids for our 512 TR or TRs. I bought the WAI and eventually still had the heat soak issue, so I decided to just fix the original problem. Now I'm back using the OEM Bosch unit and it works great. Here's my blog post with lots of photos: DIY: Fix a Ferrari Testarossa / 512 TR Hot Start Problem - SteveJenkins.com
Wow, Steve, that was way above the quality mark Mate. well done and a very well put together help file. I'll add it to my website for others to use unless you object........ Phil
Anyone got a replacement for the long hex screws that hold the 512 TR fog lamp in place? The dealer wants $27 for one of them.
Anyone found a fix/replacement for the modules that throw up the "slow down" lights? These have no correlation to reality, and flash randomly...
Throwout Bearing (PN 70000567): There's a more detailed thread (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/boxers-tr-m/436550-throwout-bearing-thrust-bearing-clutch-release-bearing.html) but here's a brief summary Many choices available and they differ immensely in price: -OEM SKF is not available to my knowledge -AW Imports $380 -Ricambi $460 -Capristo $330 -EuroSpares $490 -EuroSpares (Pattern) $125 -Ferrparts (Maranello Classics) $900 -SuperPerformance $150 I have the SuperPerformance and so far so good.
Nevermind. I decided to make my own replacement. The nut is part #14 on the "lamps" page of the parts manual. There are two per side, and the previous owner apparently lost one of them (I discovered this out when changing bulbs) as well as part #15 with is a fastnut that helps hold the fixture in place. I took one of the OEM nuts to the hardware store and perfectly copied the functionality with $2 worth of bolt, nut, and washer. I also got a replacement fastnut for the fixture for pennies. When installed, you can't see any difference visually... but they're installed behind the front grille so you'd never see them anyway. It's a 6MM 1.00 course thread nut. Add a nut and a washer (outside the nut) and you're good to go. If you're not able to find a bolt where the thread stops like I did (which keeps the nut from moving up), you can buy a second nut and tighten them against each other. Differential oil seal left and right side (to replace deleted left side oil seal) use seals that is used both left and right side and I found that 45mm x 60mm x 8mm seal that works with my both cars are: VAG 016409399B Oil seal used almost every VAG product from 1980 to 2000 in Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche. Fitment is mutch better then original and is with double seal lip and is ment to be used in both sides.
this cross reference thread is a very good thing problem is only to find something what someone is looking for. this takes a lot of time and my be you will give up just before you found what you are looking for. for example: when I type: diff oil seal TR then this cross reference thread is not appearing who has an idea to make this better???
Do what I did; start a new thread with key words. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/boxers-tr-m/498437-differential-flange-oil-seal-leak-solution.html
I don't use the built-in search here. Type this into Google: site:ferrarichat.com diff oil seal TR You'll get lots of useful results, limited just to FChat.
AutohausAZ has re-manufactured Bosch Starters (SR4884) for $298 with free shipping. Thats the best price I could find online as of this writing. My car only has 14,XXX moles on it but I could hear a difference on the new starter.
This thread is getting loooooong. Here is the only gear oil recommended by our new diff mfg's. Red Line Synthetic Oil - Gear Oil for Manual Transmissions - 75W90 NS GL-5 Gear Oil
Just wanted to add an update on spark plug wire options... Prior posters had mentioned getting NAPA wire wound wires... I searched low and high, and none of the NAPA stores still carry those... I also searched the net like crazy, trying to find wires with a 500-700 ohm per foot resistance, that were 7mm... I would have had an easier time finding dinosaur bones... There were threads that mentioned Taylor wires... Checked their site, they no longer make 7mm... Others mentioned magnecor... 8mm only... Saw threads mention that Dave Helms had some custom wires made that were 7mm... the threads mentioned they were 300 ohm per foot... and used for a 308? Didn't sound like what we needed... Searched Jegs, Summit, etc, etc... few carry 7mm, none list resistance... Searched Accel.... no go... Did come accross Kingsbourne wires out of California... They have the EXACT wires we need. 7mm, spiral wound, fiberglass core, 500 ohm per foot resistance, in black/red/yellow... And its $30 for 25 feet, or $50 for 50 feet... So, just ordered those... As these things are getting harder to find by the day, folksmay wish to stock up... I saw som eother folks use these in a 308, but thought I would add to this thread... Bo
Bo we have cables over here in the UK. I fitted them to mine some years back and still work perfectly. I have been told that it is important to get the correct spec for the cable as the electronic ECU's in the car have limited electro emission rejection. Message me for details. Phil
Are you referring to the ECU modules? There are 2 - one for cylinders 1-6 and one for 7-12. My 88 TR shows part # 62347000. Part # 5 on the ALGAR catalog......Table 12. The F pimp wants $595.00 each for them...... I have been looking for one, or a cross reference to Bosch? maybe?....... Anyone? Image Unavailable, Please Login
