The Gs end represents the top alternator and Gi the bottom.

Okay thanks. Key on engine off it was illuminated which would be correct. Interesting way of indicating the upper and lower alternators. An injected boxer simply has a left and right battery light in the instrument cluster

GS stands for Generatore Superiore ( Upper Genny )
GI ------------Generatore Inferiore ( Lower Genny )

Like the levers marked Baule ( trunk ) and Benzina, the boys at Maranello thought that if you really wanted one of their beasts you had to figure it outfor yourself. Imagine Toyota doing this and leaving japanese letters around the dash!

It's like you have a little Italian lesson every time you go for a drive. :)

And I thought the original owner could have been an upmarket lady of the night and this was something to do with availability.
    How wrong you can be.
