Cool.... $12 million smashes all records for a Tour de France?

246GTS - I think it was a no sale on the block and then announced afterwards?

Anyway $69 million is decent money for 1 night of sales, will be interesting to see how night 2 goes

Cheers, time for a beer methinks

My watch is stuck. That's the time it always reads.

Great to be able to catch the results at my own pace. Much appreciated.
Thanks for all your hard work Tim!

You would not say that if you saw it in person. This was a gorgeous car.

Is it me or is quite a significant percentage being sold near or below minimum estimate ?

This in turn suggests that many reserves are being set below that which seems unusual and/or there is little interest ie nto many bidders at these levels

Your Honor if you ever find that ugly thing in your driveway, call me and I'll resolve the problem immediately! :D

I've always enjoyed the design of this one-off.
One of the things I like is how the Giugiaro (while at Bertone) designed nose is evocative of the Chiti nostril nose of the '61 156 F1 Sharknose, as well as the TRi 61s and some of the Dino SPs of the time.

I note that Simon Kidston on K500 commented that this year is a very extreme version of the topsy turvy world we had a taste of last year. The one where $6 million Enzo, 9 million dollar Porsche 956 and $599k Ferrari F512M sell for steep money and other imo much more usable and interesting cars get bidded to 2 fifths of stuff all. Or don't sell at all. The other trend I have noticed is that owners see a concours level x selling very well and the next round of auctions there are 5 - 10 entered. Does anyone stop to think that a lot of the value in the sale may have been oportunity cost due to it being the only one offered in 12 months, I am thinking 330GTS, 330/365GTC and Daytona's, of which there would appear to be a lot offered this weekend with sales rather depressed? Anyone got any better thoughts?

IN other news the Cal spider that No saled at RM on Thursday has been listed as a post block at $8.5 mil.

LAST DAY tomorrow with day 2 of Gooding sale AND Pebble throughout the day. Then we can sleep LOL. Does anyone know if the action from Laguna Seca is streaming?

Tim.As with others,I am amazed with the effort, and pure hard work you put into this,at this particular time with the CRAZY auction scene, added to your family problems...Well done, and much appreciated.I wonder, when you have auctions by the big boys, maybe once every month, plus the feature events, how long can the market keep this rolling. At the moment, the auction houses are coining it,sometimes selling cars that they have actually bought in,but as in so many other examples,we may arrive at a way of selling a classic car (on line) without the seller, and the buyer having to cough up a ridiculous charge for doing something that could cost zilch! Come on someone.....Create a trade to trade,or owner to owner site that we can talk..discuss..trust..deal..and be happy with the results..???

JC was the telephone bidder who bought the Bertone SWB. He was prepared to go to $20 million for it.

The estimates were very aggressive overall. It's all bidder psychology.
