    Thanks for the info.

So is this a US car that was not originally imported to the US? Was the original dealer a European dealer? Is this documented in the warranty book?

My records show it to be a European version but I was unaware it had so little mileage.

I don't know the answers to the last two questions. I note the metal plaque on the driver's door jam referencing (in english) that "this vehicle conforms to all applicable FEDERAL motor vehicle safety bumper, . . ." Was this plaque (in english) found on all Ferraris or only on US bound autos? The low mileage (after I became the owner) is attributed to prolonged period of time when I could not drive it. I have the paperwork from Steve Harris documenting the mileage as of 2002. I don't know why it was not driven while residing in The Netherlands. Wouldn't you drive this car?

There are a couple of things to pick through.

First, is this car a US version car or a Euro car? The VIN will show that. The VIN for a US 328 GTB starts with:

    ZFFXA19A

Does your VIN start with that? The key letter for determining the market (the country the car was built for) is the 8th digit in the VIN; in this case the last 'A'. If it is a US market car the 8th digit should be an 'A'. Is that the case?

Second, regarding the original dealer, it is typically stamped or written down on the first (or is it second?) page of the warranty book. Do you have the warranty book for this car?

Gray market cars often have their own plaque with Federally required wording on them. If it is not possible to post a picture of it just give us the whole vin as Furman suggested and that will answer the question for sure. It would be interesting to know one way or the other.

A "true Euro" has no catalysator, and therefore no hot air exit slot in the top of the rear bumper, beneath the licence plate; the VIN is written ZFFWA19B0000xxxxx for a GTB; my own April 1989 GTB is ZFFWA19B000081085.

Then you have the Swiss market version, which is an Euro with cat: it has a hot air exhaust slot on the top of the rear bumper, the VIN is ZFFCA19S0000xxxxx

All US market 328 have catalysator, and the hot air exhaust slot in the rear bumper

Thank you for the clarification on the VIN. My VIN is ZFFXA19A. The 8th position is an "A" I took a photo of the drivers door jam so I wouldn't forget the darn number. When I figure out how to send a picture I will send the photo I took of the VIN (and of the car.) I appreciate all the information that you all have provided to me. I was looking for some general background information but you have provided so much more. As for the warranty book, it is still in storage. When I get it out I'll forward that information as well. I hope that the other model specific discussions in FerrariChat are as helpful as this 308/328 discussion, because this place is great.

Fantastic. Thanks for the info. I will update the entry for your car once you come back with the original dealer info so I don't have to post it twice.

The original dealer is just an added piece of info that I've added to the registry because it tells the story of what dealers got what cars over the course of the production of the model. It's unique to this registry and I think it's kind of cool to see and it's a part of the Ferrari history in the US.

Congrats on the 328 GTB. They are great cars, really fun to drive. Glad to be of help. And thanks for contributing.

Info added to 81569 and 82526.

jm328, were you able to locate the original dealer? It should be printed or stamped in the Warranty Book.

Anyone know about 81203, the last Argento US 328 GTB or 82669 the last Giallo and second to last US 328 GTB?

I see 80192 for sale on eBay. It is says it is 1989 red/tan coupe, LH drive. Has 19K miles and the asking price is $149,900. If I had $150K to spend on a Ferrari I think I would be looking at a 430.

80192 is not a GTB. If you had 150K and you bought a 430, your 150 k would soon be 120K.
If you spend 150K on a car that is not depreciating, you'll STILL have 150K. That's if the 150K that this dealer is asking is market value at this time. This figure is certainly at the high side of market.

Here's a picture I haven't posted in a while. Probably the only time four US 328 GTB have been together ever. One of the cars is mine but I can't recall the serial numbers of the other three cars. They're in the registry. The owners or previous owners are on this site.

    Enjoy. :)

It was taken at a car show outside Denver, taken in 2007 I think.

I knew there were four US 328 GTB in Colorado and I made an effort to get them all in the same place at the same time. Two out of the four cars no longer reside in CO and I think unless someone makes a similar effort (now would have to be across different states), it probably won't happen again. Even at big events like Concorso Italiano in Monterey it's very rare to see more than one 328 GTB, let alone four. :)

I own the red car furthest in the picture (67033). If I remember correctly, Dave (hardtop) owned the next furthest one in the picture, I believe it's an '89. Sherpa owned the black one, I believe it's an '88.5. And another FChat member who no longer posts, owned the closest one in the picture, I believe it's an '88.5. I may have mixed up the two red ones. The '89 is now owned by a CO resident and is seen occasionally at shows. He occasionally posts in the CO section.

Glad people enjoy the picture. At the time I new it was a unique thing but I didn't realize how special it was. :)

It was at ACC. 2 89s, 88.5 and your 87. You forgot that Futureman also owns an 89 so at least 3 remain in CO. When I bought 79392 in 2001, it was the only in CO.
