I bet he asks $199,900. He has a 1989 GTS with 10,600 miles asking $145,900.

Whatever it was, given the short time on the market, I guess it was too low.

It appears the 169K 328GTB has also been taken off of ebay as it's "no longer available".
That's a pretty earth shattering price for a 22,000 mile 328GTB. The real question is how low did they go to sell the car?

There appears to be a run on 328 GTB.

I would wait, 360's and 328's are going in opposite directions.

You're probably right. Really in no rush, plus not sure how to deal with the tax angle on profit at this time anyway..

I think you should start looking for a 360 that meets your expectations. At the very least, get a good feel for the market. I get that you would have to sell the 328 first but I would start the research process now.

Nice 360's that fit your specs may not be as easy to find as people might think.

As far as values, what do people think would be a too high an asking price for a 328 GTB with say 25,000 miles?

Well the dealer who was asking 169K for the 22,000 mile Gtb, didn't seem to do that bad sticking that number out there. The car's gone- what does that mean? Even if someone lowballs them with a 15 or 20% less offer, that's STILL 135K.

For someone sitting on a 328GTB- what's the hurry? These cars have gone up measurably in the last SIX months. If you sell NOW, how much money could you be walking away from? How much farther are they going to go? Will the market tank, or will it adjust a bit and continue a slower crawl to higher values. If you have money in your hand, your appreciation is OVER! The car at this point is BETTER than just about any other investment, plus you can still take it for a putt. Ask any DINO owner from 1990, whether they should have taken the long view or short, and there's your answer. Take the money and run, I think anyone will be kicking themselves in two years. Why even entertain selling right now? But if getting another car is the goal, we should ALL investigate doing 1031 exchanges.I've done this in real estate several times. I think it will also apply to cars, if you're concerned about losing 35% of your gains to Uncle Sam.

328GTB's are going to continue to climb, we're experiencing the same thing the Dino market did 3 1/2 - 4 years ago, just a slow steady climb. You asked the question what is too high a number to ask for a 25,000 mile GTB ? I just kicked over 27,000 miles on my 88 1/2 - s/n 77394 & I've been offered $150,000 for the car three times in the last month. These are rare stunning cars, best lines, best performance, best mechanicals, end of the run of this era. They're only going to keep moving up to find their place within the market.

There is a Pantera offered for sale in the classifies with an asking price (actually a starting bid, it's on eBay) of $189,000.

If a Pantera is worth that, a 328 has got be worth at least that much, right? No offense but I always thought of DeTomaso's as less than cars compared to the Ferrari's from that time.

Larry, I sent you a PM with my thoughts on a market correct asking price but based on your post above, my estimate is too low. Forget what I said in the PM. I really have no idea what the right asking price is for a 328 GTB these days.

My Leland-West insurance renewal just adjusted the Agreed Value to $56K. Seems very low compared to where the market currently stands. I think I need to switch to Hagerty or another insurer, but I'm wondering if any insurer will be able to actually cover the cost of replacement?

The 1989 328GTB at Marshall & Goldman with 2600 orig miles sold for $295,000. A stunning result.
Ultra rare car, only about six or seven U.S. mfg GTB's were Rossa Corsa with Black interior.
There's a red / tan 89 car down in San Diego that was at Bobileff Motors for some time with just under 1000 miles, it will be interesting to see what it ultimately sells for.
A current marketplace like this is bringing all these cars out of collections.
