hey guys, I'd love to hear about the most mileage you've seen or heard of on a 355. I hope to get on the list some day! thanks,
You know what I hate about threads asking about high mileage? You get a thousand people saying they have low mileage and the whole thing turns into a lowest mile competition. I thought maybe mentioning that would stop it from happening I thought I read about a few over 100k. I'll see what I can dig up.
Over 100k on one mentioned here- http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/402466-108-000-miles-f355-sale.html
There was a black 355 for sale in LA area in 2011 with 80k mi. I think the buyer is on fchat and said the car turned out to be a Fiorano (was not advertised as such). Is he around to chime in?
My 1997 spider 6sp had around 64k when I sold it last year. It ran awesomely and is missed. That Capristo exhaust was really thrilling to hear!
"Only" 53k miles on mine, hope to hit 62k before the next major so it will be due to miles and not time. I need to do some roooooaaaaad triiiiiiiiips....
44k on my gts, my f1 was around 40k as well. They seem to get better with more mileage. I avoid low mileage junk like the plague if I actually intend on using the car regularly. If you are a collector, then it is a different story I guess.
I did a PPI on a 16k mile car (98 F1), a 24k mile car (95 GTB) and a 67k mile car (98 F1). I bought the 67k mile car a few weeks ago. It was a one owner car and had excellent compression (185-205psi) and a binder full of maintenance records, whereas the other two had horrible compression / leak down test results and a handful of other minor issues. Just hit 68k miles yesterday. Hoping have it close to 75k by the end of this year. Looking forward to joining the 100k mile club soon.
Everytime I look at a car that sits, or has low mileage, I laugh at the way it idles like a dump truck and the owners try to tell me its a ferrari and it should sound like that. LOL
When I say low mileage junk, I don't literally mean low mileage cars are junk. The cars I am referring to are the ones like the post above. Ones that have terrible numbers and sit around rotting away. A car that is regularly exercised with low mileage of course is desirable. But the sad fact is that most are not, further bolstered by all the valve guide carbon leaking motor horror stories, ones that don't seem to plague the high mileage examples. So yes, it makes sense but perhaps I was not detailed enoughin my short post above. Thanks
I helped a friend purchase a lovely 355 last year with 224,000 kilometres on it (so about 150,000 miles). Stunning condition with a huge sheaf of bills, virtually everything mechanical replaced by ferrari dealers over the years. It was an ex track experience car. All I will say is don't believe the hype. He uses it every weekend, never afraid to take it out wind or rain, it still looks superb, and since he bought it all we have had to replace is a rear wheel bearing which we bought used off ebay for £350 and I fitted in his little single garage one weekend with minimal tools and a trolley jack.
Said car on the day we collected it. Its probably gone up at least £10k since then and would still be less than half the cost of most listed on ebay. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Me giving it a tunnel run after fitting the wheel bearing https://fbstatic-a.akamaihd.net/rsrc.php/v2/y4/r/-PAXP-deijE.gif edit, wont work for some reason. Here is the original ebay advert, actually my memory is not what it was, it was 241,000 km so more like 161,000 miles! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ferrari-355-F355-GTS-giallo-fly-yellow-/251330936151?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=13ROFm%252Fay9HLsgYTU%252F8Suw3uMos%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
Well done Paul. Drive it like it was meant to and keep spinning that odometer. My 355 has been very reliable. Not surprised at this one at all.
i came accross a 355 gts with 70k miles. you cant tell if its done 70 or 17, because its nicely looked after , as we all ferrari owners do
Ive got 43k on mine. Took her out for a drive today, and runs as good as the day she left the factory. I just cant imagine owning a car and not driving it. D.
Got about 90K on mine. Last year I put about 10K, travelling on Hwy 5 to Santa Maria every weekend Image Unavailable, Please Login
