Is there a certain brand or size that would fit best to mount to the floor of my F430? Can you just drill into the floor passenger floor section..or are there wires or other things in the way? I don't want to damage what I cant see under the floor..rug..

I can't answer your question but be careful how you mount it.

The last thing you want in a crash is a 3kg fire extinguisher bouncing around the passenger cabin.
Mine is bolted to the central tunnel in the passenger footwell using the fire extinguisher brackets but I'm going to move it to the front boot.
If I can't get at it quick enough there, the car is gone anyway.

Why not mount it to the passenger seat? Couple different ways of doing so depending on the desired orientation.

Bottom line is as easy to reach as possible .... unless you want it as decoration ;follow the factory mounting in Scuderia or 16M is good.

Easy to mount to the electrical access panel behind the passenger. Also an easy reach from the drivers seat.

It can also be mounted to the passengers side of the forward end of the center console without modifying anything. A little in the passengers way but not too bad.

Basic rule of thumb, after mounting try real hard to pull it off by hand. If you don't get anywhere it is probably mounted well enough to be safe.

my 2 cents: B355T - Halon 1211 Fire Extinguisher 5 lb. Fits the factory mount almost perfectly. I added another layer of leather and it's now snug. Yes, it's in the passenger footwell, and yes, in a violent end-over-end accident it'll probably come loose and kill me. As my doctor sez: don't do that. OK. EMT/race mechanic/machinist friend shared this story: "Would put out a forest fire. I put out a 2.5 ton utility cab Truck. Like PG&E uses for line repair in the woods. 4x4, size of 6 pasta rockets. Fuel line was off and some fool tried to start it. well over a gallon of gas in, on the engine, cab, floor when it went off. Flames WELL over my head, out both sides, him in the cab. I hit the thing with a 5 pound Halon extinguisher and it was OUT. It was out faster than it took you to read this. Puuuuuuuuuuuuuufff and it was OUT! ( 3 seconds?? Maybe?? no exaggeration at all)"

You don't or anyone doesn't want to use it or open it .... I personally would want it to be there just for decoration and would never have a chance to use it ...

Factory and floor mount unit is for decoration and original equipment factor. If you are reaching for that in a cockpit fire you have bigger issues already. If you want a real fire suppression system get a halon kit wired to a dash mounted kit with a minimum of three pointed nozzles. One in engine area, one toward drivers area and one toward drivers foot box. These are what properly equipped race cars use. Hope you never have to use it.

Can you guys still buy Halon. Montreal Protocol killed it for us years ago.

No doubt the best multi-purpose extinguisher ever made....

Yes, Halon still appears to be a simple internet purchase in the US.

+1 if you go a track frequently. I have a fire-suppression system installed in my race car " mod 944 Turbo S" but on all my other cars , I have just a mounted one cause I use them on track only few times a year and not tracking 10/10 ...

Price is not listed. I assume it may vary on material covering as well. When you call, would you mind sharing. Most likely a lot more than when purchasing with the car.
