My '86 3.2 has these eye bolts which I don't think I have seen on any others and was wondering if this is something that a previous owner added or are they correct. They are on both the driver and passenger side of the car. One does act as an anchoring point for the seat belt, but the other one attached to the center console has nothing.

I don't have them in my '84 Coupe. Maybe a convertible thing or someone added them for a racing harness?

Definitely an add-on for seat belt anchor or tie down of sorts, not oem. My 3.2 does not have it.

yep, didn't come from the factory normally with those. Is your car red? Maybe they attached straps to those so the Pope could stabalize himself ;)

Yep it is red, my thought they were for a racing harness, just not sure, so I thought I would throw it out there. Need to work on driver safety belt as it doesn't retract very well, gets hung up on the housing which the convertible top goes down into at the "B" pillar.

While removing driver side rear seat and panels to access the driver seat belt I found holes that were obviously for a roll bar, at one point in its life it was raced!

Thought I would post a couple pics of the seat belt repair, wasn't that bad, just had to remove a lot of panels, door threshold, rear seat bottom, etc to get at it. Also thought I would post a pic of the holes from the roll bar installation. Who ever did all of this wasn't concerned with how things were put back together, spacers missing on the top mount of the seat belt attachment, screws missing on the side panel trim, nuts missing on the two back seat screws that hold in place, carpet not glued back down (which made it easy to get at the two screws), and the list could go on. Baby just needs some TLC from now on.

I may be in the minority here, but I think a car that was used on a track makes for a better car. After all, someone has driven it the way that the designers expected.

There were 3 things that attracted me to my car and sealed the deal

    1. Consistent mileage through the life of the car
    2. Extensive and complete maintenance
    3. The PO used it for track days - it still has a Texas Motorsports Ranch Sticker on the window.

The car runs like a top, and revs like a banshee. No carbon buildup here. I attribute part of that to maintenance, and part to track usage.
