Maybe the side scoop and rear wing to work together. Maybe like Huayra they move independently. It'll be interesting. I'm already liking it more and more every time some info comes out.
Just made this mockup without the extra bits. I think I prefer a cleaner, less fussy look - but otherwise I love it! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I can't read this thread fast enough to get to the end. lol. As a 458 owner I like the 488 a lot! We knew this was coming and I like the changes because it doesn't make the 458 obsolete. The changes are similar to the 360-430 update whereas most "non car enthusiasts" wont know the difference unless side by side. I like the front end and rear but I hope the sound is decent. It looks more aggressive kinda like the Cali T upgrade. The only thing I'm not crazy about are the Porsche like side vents but we also knew with turbo's they needed to add bigger intake vents. I may hold onto my 458 coupe until the 488 spider is available. I don't think any speciale owners have anything to worry about since the performance is very similar even with the 488 having more power and torque. The Speciale will sound better and may even have a better driving experience!
I agree. Something was bothering me, but I couldn't quite figure out exactly what...until you posted your mockup looks a lot better now!
Front is great, back is a nice improvement over the 458, but that side intake kills it. Looks like a gaping wound!
Can anyone convert Ryan's modified version to a deep blue? I think that would be the perfect version Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just read this on Evo even though it's different than the others: The 488's peak power figure is developed at 8000rpm and a thumping 561lb ft of torque is put to the tarmac at 2000rpm. Ferrari also quotes a throttle response time of 0.8 seconds at that low engine speed, hinting at minimal turbo lag.
Since I started this thread back on 8/17/14 I guess I can have the last word now? LOL j/k The new 488 looks great -- no doubt. But like many of you I have doubts on what forced induction will do to the overall driving experience. I've owned fast turbos and yes they are great performers but GTR's and 991 Turbos seem to be missing something. Let's hope the 488 is a different animal. When I drive my 458 with the IPE F1 exhaust valves wide open the soul and exhilarating "rawness" is truly a magical naturally aspirated sensation that is unmatched. So far. So I'm hoping when I drive the 488 someday it will verify my opinion on the 458 but if not then maybe it will be time to upgrade
So what's peak rpm then? Usually redline is 500rpm past peak, so only 500rpm less than the na motor wouldn't be bad....
I totally agree here. BUT, I wish they would go back analogue old school gauges instead of TFT. The car is still a bit too digital for my taste. Even a cheapo Dodge Dart or Kia has a TFT display for everything.
Here is my take on these futuristic cars. Automakers have to follow the strict emissions rules. The new cars will be faster/powerful and out perform the older ones. Looks are very subjective, some will hate and some will love the new designs. But to me the key point in owning these exotics is the character, emotions and how they drive that truly sets them apart from your run of the mill other make cars. Unfortunately those new generation Ferraris, Lambo, Macs and even Porsche are becoming less fun to drive given all the intrusive computers input thus making it a boring machine that will mostly appeal to those who just want to be noticed while driving downtown. And unfortunately again this is what sells these day, we enthusiasts love a raw, engaging car, but how many of us r there, the general public wants the digital tach, the huge screen and the touch start button. To them the comfier and the flashier the better..........oh well, life goes on.
488 stands for the cc of each cylinder I believe the 456 was the last Ferrari to be numbered this way and also the 288 GTO
Probably at the bottom of the scale when it comes to sound But they have more than made up for it by giving us a great performance leap. The 488 will crush anything in the same price bracket and it's a Ferrari to boot. Job well Done IMO
