There are crazy buyers here too. $100k is nothing for some of these deep pocketed collectors.

YOu will be shocked. A clean original turbo 2 are going for well over $50-60k in the states. A turbo 1 commands at least $15k more. Involve Europe and that's another bump in sale. We will see.

Like so many classic cars nowadays, it's too bad that this car will likely go to a deep pocketed collector - one unlikely to drive it - rather than to a true aficionado. Oh well, that's the market we're in I suppose.

I'd doubt that was the same car I had seen this past Sunday, never seen one in person but that color looks so nice on the R5, I don't know why but that so nice !

Just noticed today that Mecum's estimated range is $100K-$125k. Yikes. I love these cars . . . but not THAT much.

Yeah, I'd be pretty happy if I were you. Though it was the aluminum body Turbo 1 in what looked like great condition.

But for guys who've wanted one for a while, the price for what is a cool little crazy car is getting a bit much. I'm getting the feeling that I'll be able to buy the car (or, frankly, a lot of other cars) more cheaply in 2-5 years than I can today.

who knows? With only around 3500 ever built. And that's not saying the ones that are actually left. This particular car had 80k kilometers on the dial but with a full restore. A turbo 1 with a desirable color, plenty of blue ones still around but just not in this condition and that is why the premium is there. Not every T1 is now worth $130k as not every T2 is worth $90k etc it just strengthens the demand and adds desirability to the model ...I have under 20,000 miles on my T2. And if someone offered me 100k I wouldn't take it. Just that one thing I will get buried in it .
