or finally the Ferrari i ever want is in the garage! 3 years ago i started Ferrari life with a black F430 and a nice project to upgrade the car and sold it after 2 years to buy a Scud which i loved but which had really low drive time because a trackcar should go on the track and that was a little bit complicated so i decided to sell the Scud. On the hunt for the F430 3 years ago i always loooked at the TRs because it was one of the Ferraris i ever want and after feeling that the prices will go up i thought i should by one now. So while the Scud was in the service for new tires i saw a beautifull black 512 TR in front of the showroom at Maranello Motors in Cologne. It was a little bit dusty but i saw that the car was in immaculate condition! So i went to my mechanic (who i know from Ferrari Zender, where i bought the F430) and ask him if he know the owner and if he can tell him, that i love the car and if he ever decided to sell it, that he please call me! Answer: "I think he plan to sell the next time!" After that info the plan to sell the Scud was in my mind stronger than before! 2 weeks later i got the info, that the owner didn´t want to sell because he was afraid that he will miss the car and never got a TR like that again. Ok, a black black, 16.500 miles, 3 owner, accident free car with only front repaint and the rest first paint and perfect technical condition is difficult to find. So i understand that he wouldn´t sell the car but was really sad because i fell in love in the first second i saw it! 3 weeks later i surfed through the websites and on autoscout24.de i saw a black 512 TR, identical miles and in Cologne! The ad didn´t show up a phonenumer but my mechanic told me the owners name, so i phoned him up and ask if he sell a 512 TR and he answered: Yes! We talked a hour and i bought the car at the phone! 5 weeks went by and finally i picked up the car. The owner, a really kind man aged 69 had a black 512 TR 8 years before which he crashed and he looked 7 years to find again a black one but he had too much cars, is really busy and so he sell it and was happy to see how perfectly happy i was! My first drive in a testarossa was a lot of years ago and coming from the screaming Scud with its nimble drive and the brutal brakes and the race sound in the inner of the car the 512 TR was a completely different car but with the first kilometer i felt it was exactly the driving feeling i requested and i was really happy! Although i have to learn to steer with my knees Image Unavailable, Please Login
A wonderful history, Christian. Not everyone has the chance to fulfill his dream! Congratulations and good luck with her!
The 5 weeks waiting for the pick up really was hard but after i had a lot to work for job and have to manage a lot with the family the waiting time was forgettable and it was a great feeling to park the car in the garage the first time! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Seth! To be honest, the car is great but the owner is a really great man and i´m really thankfull that i got the chance to by a dreamcar of my youth from a kind man like him! The pic abovem shown him and me, i printed as a poster and framed it and send it to him a week after the pick up and i will visit him this summer again, showing him what i done with the car the last weeks. @all: Thanks!
And after the deal was one oft the best deals of my lifetime, i had again luck and got the perfect numberplate! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some data, car is a 512 TR from 1992 and so it came from factory without ABS and perhaps will surprise me one day with a broken diff It was first delivered in switzerland. The frist owner sold the car after 4 years to the second owner, again in switzerland. The second owner, a ferrari racing driver and ferrari enthusiast keep the car for 16 years and it is for sure that he loved the car and did a really great job on it with keeping it original and technical perfect and it seems that he didn´t like rain and winter season. End of 2012 he sold the car to the swiss Ferrari dealer Foitek were my pre owner bought the car in summer 2013. Now the black dream got his fourth owner and it will be a keeper! Biggest interest was to reach the second owner because 16 years of ownership should have a lot of stories but till today i didn´t manage to get contact. But i found the first owner and had a really nice e-mail conversation. Result of that was a letter he wrote me with, unbelievable, 2 pics from 1992 from the new car! Image Unavailable, Please Login
After the F430 ended up in a big project and the Scud ran into a project, too i decided that a 512 TR can´t go into a upgrade project because it have to be original! But 1992 is 22 years away so i think a little project can be started a "cleaning up the 512 TR" project! So i started to bring the car from very good condition into top condition. But where i should started? Ok, that was easy because the interior was the stickiest sticky interior i ever saw! Saw? Felt! Iiiiihhhhh Image Unavailable, Please Login
Middle console front and rear, door opener and 3 gauges surround was sticky at it´s best! So i built them out, strip them down and send them, to the sticky master, Robbie from sticky no more! While i wait for the parts from Robbie i used the time and cleaned up the car from the underneath, in the wheel arches and the wheels and i saw that the car also in these areas was really in nice condition! And the rear got a pair hill engineering spacers in 11mm. Congrats -- beautiful car and a good decision, IMHO. These look great in black. Love the photos from 1992.
Spacer & lug studs on the TR luggage?!...OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH the Horror! Congratulations, you might want to consider removing the driver's seat slider & permanently mounting the seat as far back as possible.
Why Horror? Spacers and bolts were new and clean! btw the seat is far back as possible with the sliders and without sliders it can´t get more back or? But perhaps they come a bit deeper and i get more space in the headroom. Du you have remove the sliders or is there a thread? Thanks! @all: Thanks a lot for the kind words!
