what happened to everybody....... This thread has been entertaining [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpL-fXKVIvk]Porsche 918 Spyder INCREDIBLE ACCELERATION!!! - YouTube[/ame]
For some participants, I imagine: They got grounded by their parents? Maybe had their internet privileges withdrawn by their parents? Summer camp? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This silly arsed post has over 538 pages! Let's start the real post that shows how many of you are allowed by Ferrari to buy one new? I'm sure in hell ain't on that list...
TOTALLY THE HUAYRA. Sorry, I just saw one the other day and I'm still excited. The summary of this thread is that a lot of people have wasted a lot of time reading and posting. I'm very partial to the P1 and I think history will show it was the favorite. I like your point about the LF, although I think Porsche and McLaren do very good jobs of tooting their own horns as well.
Car and driver just got 0 to 60 in 2.2 seconds for a standard 918 spyder ( non weissach ) edition . That's proper fast 0-30 mph 1.0 seconds 0-60 mph 2.2 seconds 0-100 mph 4.9 seconds 0-130 mph 6.7 seconds 0-150 mph 10.5 seconds 0-160 mph 12.2 seconds 0-170 mph 14.4 seconds 0-180 mph 17.5 seconds 9.8 second 1/4 mile @ 145mph
P1's ACCELERATION TO MPH 0-30 1.2 sec 0-40 1.7 0-50 2.1 0-60 2.6 0-70 3.0 0-80 3.5 0-90 4.1 0-100 4.7 0-110 5.5 0-120 6.3 0-130 7.4 0-140 8.5 0-150 9.9 0-160 11.6 QUARTER MILE 9.8 sec @ 148.9 mph http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/exotic/1403_mclaren_p1_how_i_set_the_motor_trend_production_car_record/specs.html
P1's Autocar times: 0-30 MPH 1,4s 0-40 MPH 1,9s 0-50 MPH 2,4s 0-60 MPH 2,8s 0-70 MPH 3,4s 0-80 MPH 3,9s 0-90 MPH 4,5s 0-100 MPH 5,2s 0-110 MPH 6,0s 0-120 MPH 6,9s 0-130 MPH 7,9s 0-140 MPH 9,2s 0-150 MPH 10,6s 0-160 MPH 12,4s 0-170 MPH 14,9s 0-180 MPH 18,0s 0-190 MPH 21,4s
From the two tests P1 averages 0-30 mph 1.3 seconds (+ .3) 0-60 mph 2.7 seconds (+ .5) 0-100 mph 4.95 seconds (+ .05) 0-130 mph 7.65 seconds (+ .95) ? I guess it was 7.7 for the 918 so (- .05) 0-150 mph 10.25 seconds (- .25) 0-160 mph 12 seconds (- .2) With the weissach the 918 would be even faster obviously
Some of the vocally obtuse were also banned. I think its the Summer effect - forums typically slow down when the weather is nice. People find better things to do. They've also already used the glue that was made from the horse that was beaten in this thread. >8^) ER
insane... but me personally, I'm not a tiny bit surprised. these are very very close to the numbers I shared months ago (the numbers I saw from Porsche). The response then was 'rude' to put it mildly. ITYS ITYS ITYS ITYS It is quicker than P1 all the way past 180...and mostly avoids the "yeah, but 1/10th is not really accurate", citing to the 1/100th, silly BS. The industry standard is to round to nearest 1/10th but Mac folk grasping at straws. But not to worry, Mac is planning a 'refresh' of the P1 soon'ish. More boost, more e-motor...blah blah blah. The 918 is 'pusched' to the max, and there is still headroom in P1 power unit. Mac die-hard's still won't accept anything.
that test was not a fully instrumented/standardized test, and it used a VP car. MT barely acknowledged the 'details' in their haste to get the first numbers in a magazine. they quickly slapped on a vbox and went one way. the numbers you need average are Autocar's and TG's.
slower. everywhere. despite the 'certainty' from the loud cultists that the P1 would be handily quicker after 60 (a small few, the really nutso, even thought the 918 couldn't win the 60 run). so now the 'discussion' is shifting to 'but Porsche pushed everything to the limit after knowing V1.0 would be embarrassed, so now they are at V3.0 and Mac still has 'headroom' and that it will certainly get an 'update'. bottom line...cars are now in customers hands. as they are, as delivered vs as delivered here and now, 918 outruns, out-brakes, out handles P1 (cult response: "but P1 is a lot more of a 'drivers car' and you need to increase your ability to make it really shine")
yes it is. I reported the REAL numbers that Porsche had months ago even though they publicly set the 0-60 at 2.5, the 0-186 at 19.9, etc. They saw times comfortably under 2.3 0-60, well under 5 sec 0-100, and well under 10 sec 1/4 mile. I got ridiculed. 99.9% folks here: NO F'ing Way. It's a fat pig.
Kind of strange they aren't offering this historic livery on the 918. >8^D ER Image Unavailable, Please Login
